When your puppy is no longer a puppy...
You get more "puppies"!!!
My "Cassi" and her "Romeo" gave me two new boys to play with yesterday. The big guy I'm thinking I should name "Truck" and the little guy maybe "Trailer" - not sure about those names just yet, but anyway, got two new members here at Gracewynd Irish Setters!! More pics can be seen on our Facebook page and soon on our web page.

Mazel tov Pete. Fine lookers both.
May they grow to be mighty K9 hunters or just over-sized lap dogs if you prefer.

Pete, I've wanted an Irish ever since I was a kid. My old buddy Gizmo won't be with me for very much longer, and I'm seriously thinking my next buddy could be a red girl. I have experience with Britts, but none with setters. I don't hunt much anymore, and spend more time on the couch than off. Would I be a good Dad, or should I get a dog that better matches my traits (fat, gassy, ugly) like a bulldog?
Very cute babies, by the way, congratulations!

These Irish can be a handful the first 3 years (or so) - then they start to slow down and match your lifestyle. The boys are worse than the girls, so you wanting a female is good.
Not that they don't still have TONS of energy after the first 3 years - they do, but they are more tolerant of us couch potatoes....see the attached pics. You just need a neighbor kid with a bike that likes dogs, or a good friend who jogs to run out the first three years! Or, do what I did, and move to the farm - put a training collar on 'em and let 'em run! If you have a large yard - playing ball will do the trick as well. They just require 30 minutes of hard play/running twice a day - or they find something to occupy their time, which is usually not a good thing to have happen!! If you decide to get an Irish girl - let me know, I may know someone in your area that can help you out.

Nice looking pups!
Funny, it's my experience that nothing on this planet kicks in a woman's maternal instinct like a whiff of Puppy Breath. Just one sniff and my wife turns into a dog hoarder!

Damn, Pete, "Truck" looks as if he has the makings of a Freightliner!
(I started to write "Peterbilt", but we've probably given the mods enough to worry about tonight.)

Congrats! Beautiful looking pups & dogs. My dad rescued a lady setter he found running loose on a very busy street in Tucson in 1979, after running ads & putting up posters no one claimed her. He named her Tara, she stayed by his side up until my dad passed in early '92, 2 months later she walked out into the backyard, laid down under the orange tree and quietly slipped away.
I had a GSD that was her best friend, the 2 of them loved hanging out together & going with my dad whenever he went horse back riding.
Great dogs, enjoy your new family members.

That's Hogan, Cassi's brother. He lives down in Boise area and is just a big lovable clown. Loves everyone and everything and sleeping is high on his list of favorite things. We sent a blanket down to him for his birthday, rubbed it all over his mom and let her sleep on before we shipped. He absolutely loves that blanket and won't let anyone wash it! Wherever the blanket is - that is where he sleeps.
He is a real hoot!!!!

Irish Setters.....
Irish Setters are BEAUTIFUL dogs. A neighbor used to let theirs out every morning and in five minutes he would have all the trash cans on the street torn up. BEAUTIFUL dogs, though.

My screen is getting blurry just now. As a boy I had a setter sired by Mystic Mike. I can't watch the movie as that screen gets blurry too. I'll have to get them looked at.

Pete,
Congratulations times two. Do you have your Vet on speed dial
like the missus and I ? Gotta love them pups. Those newest
additions look happy and healthy. The biggest one is going to
set ya' back on the food bill. Haha
Thanks for posting the pictures. Always makes me smile to see
a members new pups or old dogs.
A dog lover will always be a kindred spirit of mine.
Chuck

Sounds like I might be a good candidate for an older rescue dog. That wouldn't hurt my feelings.
