Gander Mountain
Gander Mountain opened a new store in San Antonio sometime last month. I went up to check on reloading supplies. None to be had. I asked about when they might have them and was told when they had their grand opening. Sat. Morning, I called and was told they had a full inventory. Great, so I drove up and found out someone lied. None to be had.
I talked to a feller whom claimed to be a store asst. manager and was told that Gander Mountain did not have the needed permits to carry reloading supplies.
Permits? For Bass and Bullets?
I asked when brass and bullets needed permits and he said that is what the big office was telling them. And no telling when they would start carrying them. That was after I asked a salesman for 450 Bushmaster ammo and when he told me that he had never heard of it.
I told him I would not be back. Told him it was 50 miles one way just so I can waste my gas, I'm so rich, you understand.

I've heard of it but don't often see it stocked.
I guess that "Bushmaster" name makes it evil and not for civilians.
Btw, it Is an evil round....ask any hog

That is kind of strange. Normally when you go to Gander Mountain you expect to see some reloading supplies like reloading brass and bullets. Our Gander Mountain still has reloading supplies even though to a minimum sometimes. I don't blame you for not going back when it is that far of a drive.

The local fire ordinances enforced thru your local fire marshal's office will have a say as to how much & where powder, primers, ETC. are kept & displayed. The reloading is but one more way to control the gun

GM prices are way too high on gun related stuff. I buy at local gun stores for less.

That's saying something, for sure. My two LGS's are outrageous regarding gun and ammo prices (minus shotgun shells, which are reasonable). Even cleaning supplies are jacked. I'm about done with them.

I don't go to our GM much anymore due to their high prices and not having much in stock especially reloading supplies which were high anyhow.
I've only got good deals on such things as closeouts on clothing and such things. My favorite Columbia parka was a 75% off deal there once.
I can do better pricewise in my local gun shops on most things especially guns. I don't know if they ever get any older S&W revolvers in trade or not but never have any for sale.
Someone shops there though as they opened a newer, bigger store here.

The only reason I like gander mtn is for used firearms. Sometimes the staff doesn't know what they got in a trade in and price it pretty low. Sometimes.

It's the whole powder thing that gets 'em.

I go to our Gander Mountain only if I can't what I'm looking for else where. Prices are higher that competing stores and the service in the gun department is very slow. The employees aren't slow or rude, just understaffed for the volume.

When our GM opened here, (5-6 yrs ago) they had the shelves stocked full of everything they owned. As time wore on they removed non selling items according to sales and demand. The first thing to go here was the reloading stuff. A young salesperson said they didnt sell enough to warrant keeping it there. No lowering the price's,,simply remove it if it didnt sell.

I have spoken to folks who I know and worked at GM
They have all of your information on file and are more than happy to share with the ATF without any cause or warrant. The employee who was threatened with loosing his job for asking for a warrant comes to mind.
I don't recall the specifics but remember I said it was illegal at the time of our conversation. Questions about a customers views on politics if memory serves me right.
I will not shop there but may stop and look on rare occasion.

People still shop at Gander Mountain? The place is like a lame vastly overpriced Walmart. I'm confused how they are still in business and even more confused as to how they are opening more stores.
