Since fall is upon us I thought it would be nice to start a thread showing pictures of everyones favorite hunting guns. I was peering into the back of the safe and dug out a few of my long guns that see a lot of use during the fall and winter months.

Whether you hunting deer, elk, turkey, squirrel, hogs, etc. post a picture of your favorite weapon

I'll start;

Since I do most of my deer hunting with a compound bow, the little gun hunting I do is with this Savage 10-MLII Smokeless Powder Muzzleloader. Ohio is a shotgun and ML state and this weapon affords me the opportunity to take longer shots than a shotgun or conventional ML will allow.

It shoots very flat, there is ZERO smoke (duh ), and its VERY easy to clean.

I have owned it for about 5 years now and have killed several bucks and does with it; most don't travel more than 50 yards or so after impact (the majority of them hit the ground they were standing over )

I'm mostly an upland game hunter and a shotgun guy.

My Holland & Holland 12 Gauge boxlock shipped in the white from Webley & Scott to H&H for final finish and regulation at time when H&H need a little low end business to keep the doors open. It is the same gun as a W&S Model 700 but as close I'll ever get to owning a real Holland & Holland.

Well, dang, guys...this thread just proved to me that I'm getting old.

As I've aged, I found myself giving my favorite hunting guns to my sons who, by the way, grew up hunting with me and who also developed a great love for those particular guns.

I gave my favorite deer rifle, a .30-06 Ruger M77, to my youngest son when he moved back to Utah and was going elk hunting. Ever since he was a little kid, he loved that rifle. So I figured, "Why wait until I'm dead for him to enjoy it? Heck, give it to him now and let him have years of hunting enjoyment with it like I did!"

My favorite upland gun, an Ithaca SKB Model 200E in 20 gauge, went to my oldest boy just a couple months ago. For years he walked the pheasant fields with me while I toted that little gun. He always admired it. Well, he'll be using it as his own for the upcoming pheasant hunt.

I kept my super accurate Ruger .243 Scout just in case. That is until my grandson in Arizona needed a gun for the upcoming Coues deer hunt. I figured it would be the perfect gun for him for his first hunt, so I sent it back with him this summer.

So, there you have it. My old standbys have been passed down. I still go on the hunt with my sons, but the past few seasons have found me pretty much sticking fairly close to camp doing the cooking while the hunters are out hiking the hills.

But, now that I think of it...I wouldn't have it any other way.

Of course, if I ever get the itch to put some venison in the freezer, I always have my ol 1951 Winchester model 94 .30-30.

Brush gun, deer & bear, Ruger #3 45/70. All purpose Ruger 77RSI 30-06.

Guess it depends on what you're hunting.
