Default 100,000 cattle dead

It seems no one has reported this story, but the ranchers in South Dakota have been hit really hard with a winter storm. I am looking for a charity that will directly help the ranchers.

I saw this in the news as well. It is pretty sad that the weather man did not give anyone warning of such a big blizzard so early in the season. Open grazing is a gamble.

Actually it has been discussed--see "Is Iggy Frozen?"

Truly catastrophic, and more proof of the hazards of ranching and farming.

Contact the So Dakota Stock Growers in Rapid City. Their web is 'southdakotastockgrowers.org' they have donation info on their page, also phone numbers. Friends from No Dakota advise that the loss is beyond belief. Help out if you can.

Oh goody, let's have another panic.

From what I read there are no firm numbers on how many are dead versus how many are AWOL. Seems the snow got so high some cattle simply walked over the fences into the wild blue yonder and have yet to be found.
