Question High Standard

I just inherited a High Standard SuperMatic Citation 22Lr Military target pistol. This weapon appears to be new and in the original box. Any ideas as to the value. It has 7" barrel.

If it is like new, they bring around $600+ If you're interested in ever doing any shooting, keep it.

Standard velocity 22 lr. is recommended. High Standard pistols are know to be very accurate but finicky with ammo. I have a military frame Sharpshooter.

Congrats on getting a fine pistol. I'm not sure of the value, but I'll bet if you shoot it a few times you won't want to sell it.

I would say it's value is between $750 and $850 with the original box and in the condition as you stated. It is also quite a fine Target .22 Pistol not made anymore.

Back when I was looking for a .22 Target gun I was down to one of the High Standard Models and the S&W model 41. I chose the Model 41 because I liked the position of the controls better, but not because the HS was any less of a quality gun. I did not like the slide release on the right side and the magazine release style, but that said most of the HS's I have tried, shoot as good if not better than the S&W.

Welcome to the HiStandard fraternity. The one I inherited from my Dad (HD Military, ~1946 mfg date) still shoots as sweetly as it did when I was a kid.

Well-made guns.

Love Hi Standards. A Hi Standard S101 taught me to shoot a pistol. In the late '50s I traded it on a S&W 41 that I still have. Always wanted another; finally found one complete with box at a gun show. Then found another marked US, a military contract piece; I had to have it too. They shoot as well as they ever did; wish I could find some more CCI Green Tab fodder for them.

Well after shooting my M41 since 1979, I shot yet another H/S - Trophy I believe last week and while I still do not like how the Pistol's controls are situated, I will admit it had a better trigger and was a touch more accurate (at least for me) than my own M41.

Why HS chose to put the Slide Release on the right side of the gun and why they chose the bottom pull-type Mag. release is truly beyond me!

Anyway, enjoy it!

I have a HS Victor and it is the most accurate 22 I have ever shot. You have to keep it clean as it is a very tightly made, as to tolerances, handgun. I love it and would never sell it.

Bought it back in the 70-80 time frame I don't remember exactly and paid $200 for it back then.

I find the High Standard Victor a fine pistol.
Shown below "The Victor" in 5.5" and 4.5" barrel, along with my model 41.
I agree with others, that the slide and mag release are unusual.
They are also quite heavy, the 5.5" weighing in at 50.1 oz.

I too would rather shoot my High Standard Citation than my S&W M41, so I sold my 41.

The H-S Military 106 & 107 are fine target pistols . IMHO the Hamden made guns are the best . Factory barrels are excellent quality . The weak point is the magazines . Because they don't have a feed ramp the mags must be right or feeding problems will happen . Supposedly the new Houston mfg'd mags can be made to work with earlier guns . If gun is in original box , with 2 factory mags & rest of goodies & in 98% condition I could see it selling for $ 800+ .

Watch for cracked frames. Shoot only standard velocity 22LR and watch the recoil spring for wear, replacing them is a job for three hands.
