The early bird gets the shooter
Is there some way my laptop, no smart phone 'm too po, can be set up so that when a new listing appears on a particular forum you get an alert?
I would not be surprised, and I am not accusing anyone, if some really sharp collectors may have figured this out long ago, eh!

Back when I was buying a gun or two a month, I would just check the forums where I was buying every hour or so. Sometimes on a laptop, later on an iPhone. I hit on a couple of good ones that way, but I still missed one every now and then. Probably better for my bank account that I missed.

Some forums and other sites do have a notification feature, but they may be setup in different ways. Usually it will be either in the user setup area, or as a choice on a given thread.
One blog I subscribe to asks if you want to be notified with each subsequent posting, and then sends an email asking for confirmation just to be sure, because if it ends up being a popular topic your inbox can get inundated.

Don't know about the forums, but on GunBroker you can set up a search and you will get emails (if you select that feature) when the item is listed.
Note, that the emails do lag the listing by a bit.

A kindle fire in not expensive, and with WiFi available can be used easily to web search. No monthly charges, and WiFi is available most everywhere now. I plan to take mine to Europe next spring with me.

Remember, though: The early worm deserves the bird!
