Default Android/Facebook Problem

I keep getting messages on my Samsung Galaxy S phone wanting to update the Facebook app.

When I do, the phone runs out of memory, preventing updating of other apps and the use of voicemail, etc. Uninstalling the update fixes the problem. The phone will then persist in wanting to update Facebook.

I do not now, nor will I EVER use Facebook. I don't even have an account and have no intention of EVER creating one.

Facebook came preinstalled, so I can't uninstall it. Nor can I move it to the SD card.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Doesn't you Android device give you the option of which Apps to update? My Razr M does.

And I agree with your take on deleting it. I asked about deleting pre-loaded apps from my Razr and, right or wrong, was told it can cause problems with other software. I sure would like to know if this and several others can be deleted without causing problems. There is an NFL app I have less than no use for!!! And Facebook, Twitter, etc.

And How to uninstall Facebook Home from your current phone | Android Central
only removes Facebook Home, not the Facebook program file. It's like deleting a desk top icon but not deleting the program itself through "Control Panel".

I can just not update Facebook, but if I do, I have to manually update the others one at a time, instead of just updating everything at once. I used to be able to do that until recently.

Now I've got an entirely new reason to loathe Facebook...

I'm sure somewhere , in the very long and very drawn out legal-speak , and in very , very fine print on your contract or sales agreement , you agreed to it.

How did you uninstall it? I see no obvious way to do so.

I've NEVER had a Facebook account and NEVER will.

I don't WANT to update Facebook. I don't even want to HAVE it.

The problem is that I can neither update NOR remove it.

Since I can't update it or remove it, I have to update everything else one app at a time.

Goto the page with your apps.. select the bottom left button (kind of invisible lol but it's there, I'm sure you know what i mean).. uninstall applications and delete. If it will not let you, which it definitely should.. Goto your home screen.. bottom left button again.. Goto settings.. application manager.. uninstall updates.. force stop..

It will let you uninstall the update to Facebook. That's the only way I can get the phone working again.

I cannot however uninstall the app itself. It doesn't even offer me the option. This is apparently a known "feature".

I've already done that. It's the only reason why the phone's usable.

It should.. mine don't ask anymore. You can also change a setting to stop it from auto updating in the Play store under your installed apps

This sort of thing is the reason I refuse to have a dumbfone. Nobody, I mean NOBODY, tells me what I can or cannot have on a computer device I am paying for. If I required a dumbfone for some other purpose, I'm sure all the phone store nerds would end up in expensive analysis due to my requests to remove lots of the apps in such a device. Their collective "does not compute" lights would be visible from space.

If it came pre-loaded then you can't uninstall, I have a worthless NFL app like that which came on mine. The trick with updating if you select update all then scroll down and select facefook then cancel the update.
I do that will google maps now, the latest version they made to copy the iphone interface so its pretty unusable. I rolled back to the original then cancel the update each time.
