Default grip refinish

I picked ups a 686 no dash with cambat finger grooves this weekend. Gun is excellent but the finish is peeling on the grips.
No dings or chips, but I want to strip and refinish. What do you suggest to achieve the original factory finish.

I've used Tru-oil and Tung oil on stocks before, but I want these to be factory fresh.

I'm going to put standard magnas on the gun and put the finger grooved combats away.

There's an excellent tutorial on refinishing stocks on this forum. Check the Smithing section FAQ stickys.
