I'm not a believer in astrology, at least not as a guide for decision-making. I've known some fine examples of people whose personalities conformed with the descriptions associated with their birth signs--an astrologer friend of mine says when they wrote the textbook description of the male Scorpio they had me pose for it--but others who matched little if at all.

My sister is a sort of partial believer, and her best friend is a supposedly skilled astrologer. She tells me that for a few days yet "Mercury is retrograde"--whatever the hell that means. She says when this happens communication becomes difficult and often misunderstood, to the point that electronics often get cranky. Mostly, she says, it's people who are cranky.

Now, I don't believe this stuff, as I said. But has anyone but me noticed a slightly more testy edge in some exchanges on this fine forum the last couple of days? I've seen it in Concealed Carry & Self Defense and here and there elsewhere. Simple differences of opinion leading to near Umbrage (a small and very unpleasant town downstate from here).

As someone once said (can't recall who), can't we all just get along?

Or are we doomed by our stars, or some planet doing something weird, to sniping until the 10th of November?

Ya know, I will agree to a point. In this world of typed words, it is sometimes difficult to project emotion so I feel somethings are interpreted wrong and that can lead to hostilities.

I try to come across in a sarcastic way at times, but that often gets taken seriously, so I have learned to keep the sarcasm to a minimum and when I do throw out occasional ribbing I make sure to follow up with the proverbial disclaimer announcing that what I just stated is not to be taken seriously.

I think we all need to lighten up a bit and just relax. Life is serious enough without getting all wound up on the puter!

Getting a degenerative motor nerve condition puts things into perspective right quickly. Not many things in life stress me anymore.
There are those that do take things a bit too seriously but I haven't noticed people being anymore "testy" than usual. In fact just a few minutes ago I read a post where someone said "clip" instead of magazine and another used the improper form of their, they're, there and nobody jumped all over them.

Trolls circling Uranus. It's a common Internet problem, especially on firearms forums.

An East Indian friend was into a very elaborate and complex form of Hindu astrology he said was much better than western astrology. But everything he predicted was wrong. Even things with a 50/50 proposition, like the sex of a baby, were wrong. He guaranteed to everyone that if they contributed to the lottery using his system, they'd share the wealth. I didn't participate. Nobody got any wealth.
