They seem to be playing a one-upmanship game to see who can push the envelope on these restrictions the farthest.

Default Washington state closed

Gov. Inslee annoinced same starting tomorrow. Restaurants take out/to go only. Schools through K-12 public and private too. Bill Gates (Microsoft) predicted 4 years ago that the U.S. was unprepared for a pandemic.

For the sake of thousands of small business owners and their employees I am very sorry to hear this.

For the sake of public health I can understand, but I have a difficult time understanding the legalities that may permit such a taking of private property rights without just compensation.

Restaurant owners will still have to meet their payments for rent or mortgage, utilities, property taxes, insurance, and other fixed operating expenses. Employees will still have to meet their obligations for housing, utilities, food, health care, etc.

This amounts to a "taking" of private property interests and value, albeit for an acknowledged public benefit, but should that benefit be funded by losses of the few in favor of the many or should it be done at public expense?

Questions here, not condemnation. Feel free to correct me if I am on the wrong path with my thoughts.

I'm not surprised.
He's been playing this game and pushing the envelope for several days now.

It's a fair question. There is no contest between the health of the whole population and money. Sorry, but it's that stark.

Should businesses be supported with public money? In general, yes. No business=no jobs=no community. Pretty good justification, I think.

However, politicians who express publicly that public health trumps business may find funding hard to come by at the next election cycle. That is a fact of US elections with which I can only express my total disgust.

Same in IL, as of tonight all bars and restaurants closed down. There has been some discussion about business insurance covering wages because of business interruption due to a disaster. Will be real interested in an eventual answer to this.

People make it worse than it is and they are way more dangerous than the virus itself.

Gov of OK has announced an State of Emergency as well, for 30 days.

We'll see if he activates the NG and implements curfews and such.

My business is open but if I'm getting restricted due to this I'll march to D.C. and demand the countries common sense back!

It's not a !@#$%^& movie. All you need to do is have basic hygiene knowledge and execute common decency as well as mannerism.

Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze, keep your hands to yourself but don't stick 'em in your own face either.

What the hell people...

I understand people have died but we need to look at the circumstances.

I stop talking now before I get banned from the internet and black suv's come picking me up....

I heard California is doing the same. Also, the MGM and Wynn casinos (buffets and gambling areas) in Las Vegas are also closing indefinitely, but others are staying open, at least for now. You know it is really serious if LV casinos close. Doubt that would happen if the Russians nuked LA.

Here in San Antonio, it was just announced that no gatherings of more than 50 people are allowed. Not sure if that includes Wal-Mart, malls, etc. And so far, there are no cases of community Coronavirus here yet. There are now three confirmed cases, but they all resulted from contagion exposure elsewhere. One in California, one in Spain, don't remember the third, maybe New York. All three victims are confined. Also all public and private schools and colleges are closed.

Not a lawyer and I'm sure it varies by state, but I suspect the city permit for bars and restaurants lets the health department shut them down for all kinds of reasons.

And so it starts.... this pandemic was man-made to bring this country down, cause social disruption, cause an economic downfall, make our current POTUS look bad and to mess with his re-election.

I demand a full investigation by my government and to hold any and all people accountable that have anything to do with this Wuhan ****!

Now I'll really shut up!
