My retirement carry guns.

After 33 cop years I’ve retired… large metropolitan agency, Sheriff’s Dept. two Colleges, and one School district.
Under LEOSA I can carry concealed my two main are my nickel 19-4 2 ½ inch with 38 niclads and a Glock 23C with border patrol hand-me-down loads. Both in custom summer special holsters from AE Nelson leather.
Back up is warbootie from 1915 grandpa Oscar ( German from Oklahoma) took off one of the Kaisers finest near the Rine river. Probably made in late 1800’s one shot, no markings, rifling or numbers shoots 22 short.
Took a job in the private sector, (much to wife’s glee) have to leave roscoe in the car while at work :-(
She bought me a super high polished 5 shot stainless Rossi 38 as…
A. I get uncomfortable leaving my 19 in the car.
B. it felt like an old time smith rather than the light weight new ones.
(Could have picked up and old school smith but then leave it in car?)
(Wife was mortified at gun shop as I asked to remove side plate to examine. Clerk said new gun, I said I’m armorer. Clerk said no. I said look, I go to Austin… GT’s sell LEO’s Glock same price as this and she will get to shop. Its win- win for me. I popped plate was happy. Shop owner dropped price to under LEO in Austin price. Wife and Mother in Law headed to Austin for overnight shopping spree as I went to range.
Took Rossi to range put 6 boxes thru it… Broke firing pin… Damn
Called Taurus (“Were Sorry Corporal this is NOT RIGHT you’ll have shipping label by email when you get home.” Gun went out next day, back 7 days later. They called week later to apologize again and confirm no other problems. 5 more boxes singing like the smith it wants to be.)
Retirement is a good thing

I'm 25, retirement probably won't be an option in my future.

That little German gun - while a short probably fits in it, it was NOT designed for shorts. It was designed for BB Caps.

Shooting shorts is a good way to end up with shrapnel in your hand.

I always take precautions

I thought same thing. Seems after he returned from war that was the farm gun to dispatch livestock to process.
best i can narrow down was used as such untill the 60's when i got it. I've used it as a last ditch back up for decades. I may retire it to a shadow box.
