ladder13...this is interesting, but new only as it concerns modern technology. My wife and I were returning from an extended vacation in Mexico in 1966 when a search of her purse turned up a pack of cigarette papers. We were both detained and questioned by USBP and the FBI and subjected to cavity searches. This went on for 14 hours before we were released only to find that our VW beetle had been torn apart and not put back together. The rear seat never fit again. As soon as we arrived home I contacted an attorney only to discover that the border is an area that your constitutional rights are suspended and at that time they could have detained us for 72 hours without explanation. Your post will hopefully make more people aware of what they have in their possession when crossing our borders.

As I recall the border is considered to extend 25 miles inland as well. The courts have long granted wide authority to conduct stops and searches within that area. VERY one-sided.
Too bad our glorious leaders have no interest in enforcing the immigration laws as written. There is no lack of statutory authority, just an agenda to have a de facto open border.

"Alarmingly, the government contends the Fourth-Amendment-Free Zone stretches 100 miles inland from the nation’s actual border."

I'm not worried.....
They probably won't find any 'electronic devices' that I have to be compatible with their new system.
"It says to insert a boot up disc......What's THAT???"
