Default My New Years Tradition

I celebrate the end of another year with a steak and crab legs dinner and start the New Year off with the same dinner. This year it will be steak with lobster and shrimp instead of crab legs. I had the crab legs during Christmas Week.

I could eat a main course of crab legs with a side of crab legs and then crab legs for dessert and well you get the idea.

Happy new year everyone. Had fish and chips last night with the kids on Onetangi beach here on Waiheke island We first tried the restaurant by the beach but my brother in laws kids aren't as well behaved as their American counterparts. No offense to the new kiwi member...most kids here in NZ are better behaved and have better manners than American kids. Don't know why that gene bypassed our family.  My 3 and 4 year old nephews are running screamers. So we cancelled the main courses and ordered the chips Oh well...we had more fun on the beach playing ball and running in the surf. And we saved a ton of money since the main courses were triple the fish and chips. I kind of knew early on the dinner was going to be a bust when my martini came with no olives. I asked for one but they said the bar didn't have any.  Really????  All they make on this island is wine and olive oil.  And it was as about as far from a martini as Rosie o'Donnell  is from a supermodel.  Tasted like a glass of crytal light with moonshine in it  Then I ordered oysters. Nice looking shuckers but all it came with was a wedge if lemon.  I can do without cocktail sauce even if you are a freakin seafood restaurant but sheesh...you don't have horseradish???!!!!!  The waiter gave me the old line that they are so tasty you don't need anything on them. I then asked him how tastey their steaks were. He said they were amazing. So I asked him, if everything is so perfect, why have salt, pepper and ketchup on the table? (by the way, they call it tomato sauce...guess that sounds more upscale when you charge 2 bucks for it like they do at Palm beach fish and chips). Anyway, I digress. A great new years eve with the family and as hard as my nephews tried, they couln't destroy the beach.

Every year for the Super Bowl I have a big party. Always get crab legs and shrimp. My guest list never changes......it's always just me.
I made a big mistake one year and forced my son to try crab legs. Now I have to share.
Hope you enjoy your feast. I hafta follow somebody all day.
