Default In Lust since 2010...Finally pulled the Trigger & Im a S&W Guy

Wanted one of these since I saw the movie FASTER with Duane Johnson AKA The Rock...finally pulled the trigger on one today...

I know its not a Smith, but Always wanted one of these so I did it...It can keep all my Smiths company..They wont mind

What you guys Think...I went 44 mag as I shoot that regularly versus the 454 Casull/45 LC... I also wanted a Older one, but still found it NIB..I like the engraved writing on the Barrel versus the New ALASKANS..I think they use etched or Laser for the Barrel...Not sure...

Congratulations! That is a nice find indeed. The Redhawk is heavy enough that it should absorb some of the recoil from that brute. Good luck with it.

Jim,
Nice buy. Bought my first SRH back in the late 80's. A fantastic gun. Unfortunately I sold it a bit back and only have a Redhawk now. Been wanting one of those snubbies for awhile now. .44 mag would be my choice too unless I was up in Alaska.

I've always wanted a club I could shoot someone with in a pinch.

Good looking purchase -- enjoy.

KLYDE knows about the Alaskan because he carries one off duty (Don't tell his bosses!)... I have one also, a newer .44 model with NO writing or logo on the left side of the barrel. It has a superb DA pull that must be felt to be believed. The grips are bulky but they tame .44 Mag recoil handily. I've shot both 80s-era medium factory loads and the full charge Mags no problem.

One difficulty, WW Silvertip .44 Mag loads would not eject; I had to push them out with a pencil. Always check ammo before carrying or using to avoid nasty surprises.

Should we be discussing this piece here?

A range report will follow if it ever warms up a little here...

You can be first inline with the 27-2...and I Know which one you are talking about

This one Right?

Nice one!
I like those rugers
Big, tuff sixguns
I think the grandfather would label that, hell for stout.
I still don't have an alaskan, please tell us how it shoots.

I never met anyone who was dissatisfied with their Redhawk. You've got a good gun there, enjoy it...

l traded some ammo with a guy over the weekend who has Redhawk...His is blue tho..Wood service grips and maybe a 5-6'' barrel.. He says its his backup gun for hogs...lt was loaded with the meanest looking bullets . 305gr Corbon Penetrators..PUNCH bullets.. That Redhawk w/Punch bullets looked like they could stop a Berkshire Diesel..

l never owned a Redhawk.. maybe lts time ...

I've got an Alaskan in .454 and I must say, its one of my most favorite guns. I think you'll be very happy with it!!!

You bagged a nice one!

I like how when someone on a gun forum says "I finally pulled the trigger", he's a lot more likely to have actually done that...

Beautiful firearm, got to handle one at the LGS about a week ago. Was surprised at the weight(thought it would be heavier), balance and the way it fit my hand. Would really like a 4" in either .44 or .45 Colt. Have fun.

I've been eyeing the Alaskan for a while too, especially since S&W doesn't currently offer a 6 shot snub nose in 44 spl (that's what I'd load it with because 44 mag out of a 2.5" barrel sounds punishing).

Default attn 357-RevolverGuy/KLYDE

It really isn't punishing with the issue Hogue grips. Take it from me, with the nerve damage in the web of my shooting hand. And I wasn't kidding, praising the DA pull.

Believe it or not, there is a belt slide for this snub pictured in the Dillon Precision catalog. Got me thinking. KLYDE probably already has one. Can use it to carry his snow shovel...

I slept on it. Woke up this morning. Still like it. Passed the first test. I also got a Hunter holster for it. Belt slide with thumb snap. Fits very nicely. It will be perfect for my carry piece in the woods Bowhunting when them damn black bears won't leave me alone.

Now to get it to the range.
