Was out this afternoon sitting my shooting lane, hopping to get a nice fat doe to come to the grass and salt lick when this joker came in. Normally would have let a yearling spike walk but this one isn't a yearling. Still haven't found a recipe that will tenderize them horns yet, so backstrap, steaks and stew it will be.

Shoot or no shoot here is always a problem.There have been studies showing that some times these bucks will catch up and have normal antlers.However,I've shot a few like these for the meat and didn't feel bad about I.

Horns are for stirring the soup. I have most of my deer processed as ground and cube steak.

Studies have shown that trophy hunting has changed horn size by selectively culling deer with large horns and leaving smaller one to breed.

There's one of mine from this year. Thought I was filling my anterless tag with the 50cal. Good to eat though.

I got his buddy about 20 years ago on the Calif., Oregon border. Dressed out a mighty 61 lbs.This little Black Tail was a legal forked horn but just barely.
