Once had a 1959 Simca, imported from France and sold/serviced through Dodge dealers. Looked like a slightly larger Renault Dauphine.
Four-speed column-mounted shift. Good gas mileage. But in heavy snow, and once in extremely violent rain, the driver's-side windshield wiper, arm and all, would suddenly fly off, never to be seen again.
Strange vehicle.

I've always had a thing for Tri Pacers. I owned a nearly new 78 C172 in 1980-82. Great plane but always had a thing for the Tri Pacers.
Get that tail dragger back into the air! I've got a few hours in a Citabria.

couldnt kill that aluminum 2.3 litre . ran it out of oil seized it ,several times. put in some oil let her cool down for 10 minutes and off you go again. i learned a lot about driving in that car. drifting, hollywood turns ,rockfords and even some aerial stunts, but vegas dont land well, and you miss the party...

Kensterfly, That Tri-pacer had been metalized. Looked just like a factory had done it. Short story, I totaled it. I have my excuses but 3 of us didnt get hurt. Had it back in around 1976. I really didn't realize how good of a plane it was. I paid $5,000s for it. I suppose it would bring 50 G now.

My first car was a 74 Vega hatchback, I feel your pain. Did you burn a quart of oil a day?

I worked at a gas station when I was in high school, and remember two things about the Vegas; having to put lots of oil in them, and how much they rusted. The rust was unreal, happened very fast with those cars.
If I remember correctly, the oil had to do with an early attempt by GM to mate an aluminum head with a cast iron block. It did not work very well...

'56 VW, bought it new. It had 36 thundering horsepower, up from the '55s 35 HP, due to dual exhaust. Ran it for about 4 years, put almost 100,000 miles on it, and did most of my own work: grease, oil, set points, etc.

Last time I listed them all out I'd owned something like 38 - and I've bought and sold at least 3 or 4 since then. Too darned many to type out, but suffice it to say I've owned at least one of every Asian brand, just about every European brand (except maybe Audi and Saab), and a BUNCH of them from all of the big 3.
I own 8 different vehicles right now...

I'm the opposite. I keep a car for a very long time. I have 185,00 miles on my current car. I consider it barely broken in. Now if I was a rich man it might be a different story. LOL!

I'm a 'car keeper' also - tend to bond with them and keep'em too long.
1 - '68 Ford Mustang
2- '68 Toyota LandCruiser
3- '76 Ford Bronco
4- '86 Isuzu Trooper
5- '90 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) /still have
6- '92 Toyota 4Runner
7- '03 Ford F250 Super Duty PSD
This list omits 'family cars'.
It seems I have this thing for 4x4's.
