Me and some buddies of mine had a "Twilight Zone" moment at Harper's Ferry.
We were on a long backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail and part of the trail came out at Harper's Ferry.
After three or four days in the woods we came out at Harper's Ferry and there were confederate and union soldiers shootin' at each other.
For a moment it was, huh?
Then we saw the tourists.

People that say bad things about Houston's weather have never been here on a day like today. Sunny, temperatures in the mid 60's, and a moderate north breeze, there is not much more to ask for.
Anyway, it's Beer Time!
Today I'm having Mississippi Mud Black & Tan Porter-Pilsner Blend. The jug says it is made by Mississippi Brewing Co. of Utica, NY. Well I'll be.
It sort of reminds me of that new Bush Copper beer, but this one has a bit more flavor. It has a scary looking picture of an alligator on the lable. The 32 ounce bottle was $3.68 at my local HEB. The last time I bought a 32 ounce bottle of Bud was at my local La Michoacana Meat Market and it was $3.49. It is not a highbrow beer, but it is good and I like it.
Cheers!

This is a frightening statistic, probably one of the most worrisome
in recent years.
A recent report from the National Health has
revealed that 25% of the women in this country
are on medication for mental illness.
That's scary.
It means the OTHER 75% are running around UNTREATED...

"Hello, is this here the Sheriff's Office?"
"Yes. What can I do for you?"
"I'm calling to report my neighbor, Virgil Smith. He's drillin' holes in his farwood and hiding marijuana inside!"
"Thank you very much for the call, sir."
The next day, the Sheriff & his deputies descend on Virgil's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept.
Using axes, they split every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave.
The phone rings at Virgil's house. "Hey, Virgil! This here is Floyd. Did the Sheriff come?"
"Yeah!"
"Did they split yer farwood?"
"Yep!"
"Happy Birthday, buddy!"

Couple guys go mushroom hunting in the edge of the woods. While hunting ,they come up on a deep hole.Wondering how deep the hole is , one throws a stick and listens for it to hit bottom, and they hear nothing. They continue to throws branches, sticks , pennies into the hole...still nothing. While searching for something bigger to throw in the hole, one of men finds a car transmission. They decide to throw it into the hole. They manage to get it to the edge of the hole and throw it in......and they listen.......and nothing. Just as they turn to look for something else to throw in, a goat comes running and to their amazement, it jumps right into the hole. They just scratch their heads and continue to hunt mushrooms, and run into a farmer . The 2 men ask the farmer about the large hole at the edge of the woods, and he wasn't aware of the hole, but told the men that he was looking for his goat. The mushroom hunters told the farmer about the goat they saw jump into the hole. Farmer said it couldn't be his goat , cause his goat was tied to car transmission.

Got good news, sort of,from my eye Doctor. My astigmatism is making me see double. Thought maybe I was going blind and that scared me. New glasses should fix me up fine she told me. Great Doc,she had me bring in my gun so she could get it right for some shooting glasses. All very attractive young women in the office and they treat me like a king, they really know how to work an old guy!

for those who do not speak Latin, a mnemonic for the phrase in my signature:
There was a young lawyer named Rex,
with a miniscule organ of sex.
When charged with exposure,
he pled with composure,
"de minimus non curat lex."

Watching the Jets play the Bills is like watching the Russians fight the Germans in WW II. I just wish there was a way both could lose.
Not to mention those ugly uniforms.

Sure, the cross street is West 7th St.
This hotel is on the other side of the cross street.

Lot's of old pictures and a few funnies today, and yes, turkeys can fly at least wild ones can. Of course the only Wild Turkeys out here in the desert where I live come in a bottle. There are some in other areas though, at least people tell me there are.
Okay folks I am going to drift on out of here for the night, got to go get food again tomorrow and run a few errands so a trip to town is in order. You folks enjoy the drift and I will catch up tomorrow. Nite all.

Wait. Are you talking about the turkeys or about members of the drift?
And yes...I refrained from proffering the obvious turkey joke in reference to the drifters.

Dang, yes, I forgot about that. The building next to it is still the old front. Not a lot of really old buildings on the main street because a careless firecracker caused a fire that destroyed most of the downtown business district in 1931 (I think)

Okay folks I am going to drift on out of here for the night, got to go get food again tomorrow and run a few errands so a trip to town is in order. You folks enjoy the drift and I will catch up tomorrow. Nite all.

I was going to say that In the past Wild Turkey was known to make me fly, or at least try...
"And yes...I refrained from proffering the obvious turkey joke in reference to the drifters" BR
Sorry BR, I suffer from no such compunctions myself!

So, after being prompted by a few PM's I have decided to fess up.
I have been illusive for a short period. During this time my medieval barbers have informed me that my, already tenuous timeline is now shorter than predicted. I shan't go into it here.
As happy as I usually am, I'm having a little difficulty wrapping my head around his one. I haven't been my witty, jovial self so I've backed away. And I refuse to post for posts sake.
This is, in no way, a solicitation for sympathy, rather an explanation and apology directed at those who know me.
I'm sure this funk will pass before I do so give me a little time.
So, I'll see you at the clubhouse turn.
Thanks.
