Can you smoke in the airport?
I don't smoke, so have never paid attention. I know there are all these "can't smoke in the workplace" and "can't smoke in hospitals" and like that, and the poor poor smoker has to take a ten minute break, on the clock, and go outside to smoke. My heart bleeds for 'em, having to get that ten-minute break every hour.
I know you can't smoke on the plane. And this thing I'm reading, the girl has just realized that - "Oh My Gawd. It's a five-hour flight. I will die."
So I think, 'well, just smoke one right before boarding". But can you smoke in the airport?
Our little airport might not be a big thing to go outside. But a big place, like ATL,where security is a loooooong damn way from the gate, and I'm pretty sure they would not let you step out on the flightline.

Atlanta has designated smoking rooms in each concourse.
But in general, no, you can not smoke outside of designated smoking areas. Guys I work with who smoke go on the patch when doing international travel.

No, they used to have those glass smoke rooms in some airports, Haven't seen many lately. Good Grief I used to be one of those.!! You didn't need to light up just inhale. I remember once it was so bad even as a smoker I could not stand in there.
At least now they have Nicotine gum, patches and lozengers.
Thank God that is behind me.

I don't think you can smoke in Detroit. I had a 4 1/2 hour delay and another 4 hour flight in December but survived okay without a cigar.
They did have a bar open though and that helped.

No smoking inside Detroit Metro airport, in either the Mid-field (Delta) or the North (all the others) Terminals. In fact, you are not allowed to smoke within 25' of any entrance to the terminal buildings.
However, that doesn't stop die-hard smokers from using the public restrooms once they are inside security.

I've read multiple times that nicotine is more addictive than heroin. I'm just glad I never got hooked back in high school.

Some airports have smoking rooms, some don't. Los Vegas does.

You "may" smoke on an aircraft during flight. You just have to step outside.
