Conceal carry question
Anyone going to the Texas Lonestar Roundup car show? I emailed them last year about ccw and they said no, but U can't remember if it was posted. Anyone know?

Don't know about that gun show, but the ones I have been to do not allow loaded guns and have someone checking them as you go in.

I've been to gun shows in many different states, and have never found one that will allow any loaded firearm within the gun show.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I will leave it in the car just to be on the safe side.

Something I'm not getting here...Is it a car show? Because the last two posters called it a gun show. I don't know if it makes any difference, but which is it?

It's one of the best car shows in the country. I've been twice and never saw a sign are 30-06 posted. Can't make it this year NSRA Safety Day in Fort Worth. Wonder if you could google the fair grounds and see for sure?

Our gun show in El Paso has a slightly different take: they say that if you're carrying concealed, keep it concealed and don't handle it. If you wantt to handle it, or show it to someone, take it outside the show.

Yes, it is a car show, not a gun show. For some reason I seem to remember a sign last year. Fortunately I left mine in the car then. My wife drops me off so once I get to the gate I can't go back to the car so I will probably just leave it in the car. Once you get used to having it on you, I just feel naked without it, lol.

If no 30.06 is posted all they can do IF they call you out is ask you to leave. If you leave no issue if ypu refuse then they can get you with trespassing. They call it concealed for a reason. If no signage is posted Im heading in packing

The question is, "who owns the property"? If it is a government owned property then CC is probably prohibited. As far as being a car show, why would the show be restricted?

Are there any "51%" signs posted? Don't know what being government property would have to do with carrying concealed being automatically prohibited. They'd have to have signs posted, anyway.

I seriously doubt any car show in Texas has legal grounds to ban CCW. I carried concealed in my own club's show just last weekend. No car club is going to be making any where close to 51% of it's take on alcohol. There is plenty of government property in Texas that allows CCW, including the state capitol building. And I doubt anyone is going to post 30.06 signs for a one day event.
Slap it on and don't worry about it.

No weapons of any kind allowed on site.
On Mar 17, 2014,
This is what I emailed them and they said no weapons of any kind. They didn't answer the question about sign.
Do they have 30.06 sign for no ccw (concealed carry weapon)allowed? I am licensed and want to legal. Thanks

You answered your own ? If they have a 30.06 sign posted. If not then I would carry anyway if no signs posted otherwise either 30.06 or 51% a simple No guns allowed sign then the worst thing would be you would be asked to leave. They have to post some type of no gun sign or you have to have been verbally informed by the property owner or designated representative. They call it concealed for a reason. You should know this if you took a Texas CHL class.

Obviously I took the class or I wouldn't have my ccl, but I was just wanting to know from others that has been to the show if they had noticed a sign.

Again, slap it on and enjoy the show. In the unlikely event that you see a 30.06 or 51% sign, go back and lock your piece in the car.
Otherwise, short of someone in charge spotting your gun and asking you to leave, there are no legal barriers to you carrying concealed.
Are you entering the show? Do you have a Classic?
Mine is a 1968 Mustang convertible.

I have a 35 chevy coupe fenderless rod but it isn't ready for the street yet. Been so busy I haven't had time to get in the garage. Plan to turn wrenches Sat.The reason for the question is cause my wife drops me off at the corner then leaves to visit her granbabies. This show usually has around 1200-1500 cars and she likes to stay on the street.

Maybe when she drops you off she can hang nearby a few minutes until you get into the grounds. If you decide you can't carry, you can always take the gun back to the car before she leaves the area.
Sounds like a very cool show. Have fun! My brother shows a lot in the DFW area. 67 Impala SS396. Blue coupe. Wins something pretty much every show.

CCW @ Car Show or Anywhere for that Matter!
The fact that you are not allowed to carry your firearm and are forced to leave it in your automobile causes another problem. We all know that cars are not the most secure place to keep anything valuable, an insecure place to be forced to leave your self protection. Will they have proper security in the parking lots to insure that your vehicle or others will not be violated while you are enjoying the car show? There has to be a better alternative and leaving it at home leaves us even more susceptible and for a longer period of time. No, I'm not paranoid, I have done all the qualifying hoop jumping to obtain my permission and now I am forced to be without it, unable to be trusted with the same permission I was afforded on another property. Suddenly I cannot be trusted. Tell me that makes sense!

This is simply a matter of discretion. nuff said
From what our local gun show organizers have told me, it is a condition of their insurance that they do not allow loaded firearms anywhere in the show except LEO on duty. Discretion was also mentioned when they told me "please don't carry in our shows" wink wink. I will not attend a large gathering without being armed... my choice... If I feel I will be/must be disarmed (ie court house, federal property, etc) I will simply change my plans, weather that be leave the gun at home or not attend...
