I like a lot of different types of movies. I like military, western, cops and robbers, thrillers, Sci fi, horror, comedy etc. I will even watch the occasional "drama" as long as it isn't too "Chickiefied"
I have no objection to violence, nudity, profanity within reason, or gore. But sometimes I like me a nice smooth "feel good" movie. And when it comes as a surprise it's even better.
Sometimes I order our NetFlix movies and sometimes Miss Pam orders 'em. One came in yesterday that she'd ordered and I'd never heard of it. "The Magic of Belle Isle" Staring Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen. The story line didn't interest me but I do like Freeman and Madsen so I agreed to at least start it with her.
I can't remember the last time a movie had that kind of an impact on me. Whoever did the screen play should get the Oscar and Freeman and Madsen should at lest get nominated. The kids in it did a fantastic job and even ol' Fred Ward made a less that irritating appearance.
I thought when I read the synopsis that it would be a chick flick but it isn't. I'd call it a human interest story and the very refreshing part is that there is no violence, no profanity or sex. It is a good family movie and it will leave you with a very good feeling. I really needed this one after the experience of trying to watch "Captain Phillips" the other night.
"The Magic of Belle Isle" ..... I recommend it.
