Default What rifle did this stock come from?

I picked up this stock at a yard sale. It has a hairline crack that starts at the top of the butt stock and runs under the cheek piece. I bought it for the sling swivels but I'm curious to know what rifle it came from. Would anyone have an idea? Thanks.

I would guess it was used on a military bolt rifle to make a "sporter" maybe 50 years or so ago.

I don't know but back when I was a kid my granddad would'a put a pipe in it and tell us to go play. The realer the better. How the times have changed.

He even made us a bazooka that looked so real it would have us in deep dung these days. Every kid in the neighborhood wanted to play with it.

Possibly a Sako. I'll post a pic of my stock when I get home.

Measure the spacing of the holes for the trigger guard. Certain spacings are indicative of different types of Mauser. Looks like a full length 98 type action to me.

I think the screw hole in the forend shows it's for a Model 70. In the top view, the inletting around the rear screw hole looks like Model 70 to me, too.

Probably a 1917 "Enfield" with that short tang. It's hard to tell if the seat for the front ring of the received is round or flat from the photos.

Is this a quiz, or a legitimate question?

The relief for the barrel bulge & fore arm boss/screw says pre '64 M70 Winchester.

The rear tang "clover leaf" pattern is consistent with their pre war actions.

It doesn't look like a standard but is fit for the standard weight rather than feather weight.

Neither the end caps, butt pad, or checkering pattern match their Super Grade so I would say "after market for Win pre '64 M70"

The slot for the action recoil lug is way oversize for a US Model 1917 action.

Appears to be a flat bottom receiver ruling out the Remington 700 and the rear action inletting looks like the clover leaf tang of the early model 70 Winchester.

The fore end cap and the drop behind the cheek piece look like Weatherby to me...

The stock style reminds me of a couple of the Tradewinds imports late 60's and into the 70's.
The had a few different styles, some more classic looking than others. But one that looked much like this. Rifles marketed as 'Husky' I think.
HVA and some Krico actions. Decent rifles.

S&W sold HVA made rifles too. I'm not at all familiar with those.
