True hand cannon! Almost an inch and a half in diameter.

Must have been the same one where the antagonist had an over/under shotgun at a clay shoot and right before she shot at (and missed) our hero, you could plainly hear her "rack" it!

In last nights episode of Unforgetable, the medical examiner (Jane Curtian) said the victim was shot with a 40MM pistol.

Saw one last night while watching "Unforgettable". The forensic pathologist (Jane Curtin) said the dead couple was shot with the same 40MM SIG handgun as two previous unsolved cases.
I, for one have no desire to fire a 40MM SIG handgun.

The funny thing is they were TRYING to get it right: 7.62 x 25mm IS the correct designation for Tokarev ammunition. They were just too ignorant to use the right number.

Waaaay back in the dark ages there was a movie called TAPS, in one scene a guy was inventorying weapons and (supposedly) read "M 1911 A1 Pistol .45mm"

I can even understand the TV production team not knowing much about firearms... but it's a sad statement about our educational system that highly paid adults don't have any concept of metric measurements.

If it was an Airweight, a fast second shot might have been a challenge.

News guy the other night said the Ft Hood shooter used a Smith&Wesson semi-automatic (at least he got that part right) 45 MAGNUM pistol.

how about real life. Quite a few years ago there was a investigation of Dr. Wen Ho Lee a nuclear scientist. eventually most charges were dropped. But the media tracked him down as he was fishing with an open bail rod and reel. He was using it Upside down, the reel was on top! That made me want to dig a blast shelter ^_<

What do you expect from misinform ignorant screen righters. They have no idea about correct terminology of any kind and when it comes to firearms they are totally clueless..

Saw on the show Burn Notice the other day, about four or five people running around with heavy armor. Only thing is they all had it on backwards. They had drag handles hitting everyone of them in the chin.

I get a kick out of the commercials where a guy is trout fishing with his grandson and he is using a big salt water fly rod, or some guy is fishing and is holding the rod upside down, there was one of the cop shows on the other night, they said the guy was shot with a blue S&W 357 mag and when they showed the gun it was SS.

I love it when they pick up the empty shell casings and say, "Looks like he was shot with a Glock."

I don't like it on some of the military shows how they get the calibers wrong.
"The P-51 Mustang was a long range fighter armed with six 50mm machine guns" LOL!

That would be possible, Glocks leave a very distinct mark on the primer. (rectangle around the pin strike)

But that would be a distinct advantage, imagine the recoil.

When the P-51 let loose with those 6, .50 cals., the plane lost considerable air speed.
(The SR-71 Blackbird couldn't fire them....
it would have passed the projectiles in just under 3 seconds)..LOL!

Mistakes like that on general TV are one thing, but worse when it is a military or sports show.

The TV goof was 50mm machine guns which would be around 2.00 cal instead of .50

Does anything BESIDES a Glock leave a rectangular firing pin strike?
These with a round strike could have been shot in anything.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...Behavior01.jpg
This was shot in a Glock.

edit: And if I'd read two more posts before reponding, I'd have seen that Bkreutz already said this.

Sorry, couldn't pass on this: Someone calling another "ignorant" and having no idea about correct terminology then using the words "screen righters" instead of
"screen writers."
Oh, the irony.

Never go a day without learning something new on the forum.
BTW. There's a lot of misuse and misspellings of words. I don't care, I know what they mean.

Katie Couric was musing on live TV one morning with Cliff VanSant about the DC snipers and she said she understood the bullets the AR15 shot were particularly dangerous because they tumbled end over end.
Cliff didn't miss a stride and replied "Katie, all bullets are dangerous and the bullets flew like a football, not end over end."
