Default School Stabbings in PA

I wonder how the media will hype up the stabbings in Murrysville, Pa. twenty students were injured after a stabbing attack at about 7:20 a.m. this morning.

Just goes to show if there is a will there is a way. Now I guess there will be registration for all assault knives.

Nothing life threating at least that a good thing.

Here in The PRofNY they already started putting serial numbers on Chop Sticks and are demanding all the Chinese Restaurants fill out ATF forms when you pick up a take out order.

Sad, but you are correct - if someone wants to do harm to others they WILL find a way.

Gee I wonder if someone was legally carrying a firearm there if they could have stopped the stabbing? Hmmmmm....

The media (And others) will probably spin it something like good thing only knife/knifes were involved or there would be many more killed or horribly wounded!

My prayers go out for those injured students for a full and speedy recovery of both physical and mental wounds.

Not the time for a debate, but this certainly changes the narrative.

Perhaps if there was an adult nearby with a concealed carry permit and a weapon this would have been curtailed a whole lot sooner.

has been on 3 local tv stations all morning. not even commericals. murrysville is about 10 miles as a crow flies from the house. they just showed the boy in the police car who did the stabbings. the news people just keep asking the same questions. police rep. just asked the media not to spread rumors.

Sounds like the one being bullied fought back poor kid.
What other reason could it be?

Our kids should be our best friends. We need to get involved with them more. Don't shut them out of your life. Share your life with them. Enjoy them, teach them right from wrong. Preach to them, mentor them.

I hope it's not just some kid who went samuri for pleasure. I'm worried about copy cats. I'm sad it happened at all.

There's too much negative stuff on the news today that can set off anyone. People with problems is what I mean. We need to get to the bottom as to what drove this normal kid I presume to do this. A school is the killing ground and it's got to stop.

I still wish I had that newtown punk in a locked room for two minutes. I'd show him what it feels like being hit by a Mack truck little coward. Some tough love....the fear of God with a knuckle sammich.

My immediate concern is with the victims; I'll worry about the media later. I used to live in that school district. The school is located in Murrysville, it is what most would consider the extreme eastern edge of the Pittsburgh suburbs - probably about 20~25 miles or so.

Murrysville is an upscale community; my understanding is the peer pressure in Franklin Regional High School can be tremendous on those that come from families that are not considered upper middle class.

My "home" church - even though I now live 125 miles to the west in Ohio - is right down the street from the school. I might know some of the victims, or even the perpetrator. I hope no lives were taken.

I pray for the victims.

What's missing in the kids lives today that we had growing up?

It's the fear of God and my old man's size 12boot he would put you know where if I got caught screwing up. I kissed the cement many times. Some parents give there children anything they want to get rid of them. You had them now deal with it.

Default GET SPORKED!

IMO copycats from that tv show the following? ASSUALT KNIVES? I can't remember the exact line Archie Bunker asked his daughter Gloria regarding gun attacks, but something like "would you rather be hit in the head with an axe baby girl?" ARCHIE was so RIGHT in so many ways. You will really make me feel old if you ask who ARCHIE was.

Well that's at least a small step toward a solution. My question is "Why do knives have to be so darn sharp?" Somebody should do something.

They will compare incident to other incidents that involved an evil black rifle. Then they will simply say that lives were saved because the kid only had a knife instead of an evil black rifle. The death toll would have been worse.

First words I heard from a ********'s mouth: "Thank God he didn't have a gun. It would have been a lot worse."

Somehow I think the "talking points" have already been disseminated.

As pro-gun as I am, that reasoning is true. ;(

We should put our focus on the fault of "Gun Free Zones" that strip people of a very potent defense regardless of the type of weapon is used by the criminals/crazies. And then there is the simple fact G.F.Z.'s threw away any deterrence we had in our corner. G.F.Z. = Defenseless Target Zone.

The article I read said "Security Guard". I thought all schools had a Police Officer on duty during the school day.

This particular school this morning had one armed police officer and 2 unarmed security guards on duty.

Two elderly people living in separate rooms in a nursing home/asst living were recently attacked & severely beaten by the security guard with a cars scissor jack. What are they gonna say now, at least it wasn't the spare tire?

"Security guards"=hired from a civilian guard agency, low pay, little if any training. Not that different than the Army putting people on guard duty with an unloaded weapon-or no weapon.
Always believed in Cold Steel myself-silent, deadly, no parts to break or jam, no ammo resupply problem. A good stab wound is usually a better way of disabling someone than a gunshot.

Worse if he had a gun? No I don't think so. When the halls are crowded like they were, before class or at class change. I'll bet he stabbed, slashed , whatever the majority of victims before anyone even knew there was a problem. Knives are truly scary. And very often deadlier then guns.

The old saying about "Don't show up at a gun fight with a knife" makes sense only if everyone involved knows there's going to be a fight.

Had this student used a firearm, the media would make hay with another school shooting. (obviously). National news tonight however just focused on how school officials trained for this and were all full of themselves for having "saved" the students from greater carnage. Not one word of "mental health of the perpetrator " or the like. Just pats on the back by one LE official for not sustaining any fatalities (yet). I've said this before: there is no protection against madness, only sure and swift action by the good guys. Have an armed school resource officer, and be prepared to defend the innocent against any and all that would do them harm.

When I was in high school, if you were "bullied" you could take the matter out back in the gravel. Might get a harshly worded warning about fighting, but the matter got settled most of the time. It seems to me, and I am not an expert on behavior, that the more kids are prohibited from dealing with their bullies physically, the more explosive the response becomes. Seems to me like it all comes to the surface at once. I was only bullied a couple of times. It made me mad and fights ensued but never once did I consider killing innocent people. Got my butt kicked or kicked some but it was settled right then and there. I think parents today are limited in what they can do to punish bad behavior so it gets worse. This kind of thing seemed to have gotten worse since the good old spanking were prohibited.
Don't know what brought this particular incident about. Maybe it was
affluenza. remember that?
Peace,
gordon

One acquaintance said in his high school the bullies had to duke it out with one vice principal/coach-6'3", Golden Gloves. They set up the ring in the gym and anyone could watch. Another acquaintance said at his school the bullies went up against football players. Nowadays that would be considered a violation of their rights, hurting their self esteem, the school (i.e. the taxpayers) would be liable for the medical care, etc.
Has anyone heard yet-"He stopped taking his meds!"

Default POOR EXAMPLES

I in NO WAY intended to disparage security guards, it's just that ANYONE can snap. Many older security guards have proven themselves in the military, then a career in law enforcement, before retiring with a part time security job, I would not take one lightly. The one in this instance was young & must have passed a background & drug screen at some point. Not all security guards are the flashlight & walkie talkie types that will shine a light in your face if you don't do as told, as depicted previously. An "adult" teacher fighting a teenage student (even if boxing, it's still man vs boy) should be terminated quickly IMO, Just a has been, looking to stroke his ego & re-capture some of his glory days, NOT A FAIR FIGHT AT ALL.

The article I read said the 16 yr old used two knives and had a blank stare. He was a loner who decided he wanted to die. Neighbors said there wasn't any indication of violent behavior.
