Maybe sellers don't realize...
I have been noticing more and more sellers editing out prices, pictures or even all the details about a sale soon after a transaction goes through?
On the rules page is says, " We request that you leave your sale prices in the ad when items are sold. Leaving your sale price will allow folks to search/research what similar items are selling for. "
I am not trying to create trouble here. But I do think this is worth a calm discussion.
Why for heavens sake are sellers removing sales details from classified postings?
That robs all members from learning about the market.
I am interested in what others think about this.

I'm a 100 % behind you on this,I like to see the going rate for items and the details of any transaction. It's all a good learning experience.

I'm with you; it's frustrating for those of us who follow price trends.
Nonetheless, it's a request that the information remain, not a requirement, and the seller can do as he pleases.
In some cases, buyers want information removed that could be used to build a profile of what they own, and some sellers don't want evidence of what I think technically constitutes income.
In short, once done, some want their business dealings private and untrackable.
What really bugs me is when people forget to leave feedback after a deal -- especially sellers.

Seen this at Walmart.com - when something is out of stock - such as ammo.
The only reason I can think of is the prices may change (without notice) and they don't want to keep the old prices available.
But they also remove the prices for items only sold in the stores. I don't know if they are in/out of stock. It would be nice if they left the information for us internet shoppers.

That's never been a problem for me...I follow the "buy high, sell low" business model.

I don't quite get that.
If I had a Triplelock for sale, for 2 grand, and you bought it, all I gotta do is say "SOLD".
If I don't say, "SOLD TO HAPWORTH", how does anyone know you are the one that bought it?
And on that note, I see that on many classified boards. "SOLD TO CAJUN LAWYER" "SOLD TO HAND EJECTOR" "SOLD TO WHOEVER-THE-HECK"
Ain't never understood that, either. Ain't nobody's business who it was sold to, except the buyer's and the seller's.

I too like to see the prices left in the ad. However, I don't remember ever buying anything on a site like this for the price in the ad. I've always been able to get some kind of discount even if it was just including shipping.
So, just because they leave the price doesn't mean that's what it sold for.

Doesn't bother me either way, I think it's their information, and I believe in personal privacy.

But in most cases, the seller requests a "I'll Take It" open posting, So everyone knows who bought it anyway.

Well I delete photos from my hosting site on items that don't have any further use to me so I can clean up my library. Doing so will delete said items from any posting on a forum.

In "for sale" ads where an "I'll take it" post is required, it's a giveaway who purchased. When handled through PM, I agree that I'd prefer not to be named in a "SOLD TO..." post.

I was unaware for a long time that there was even a feedback section.
I do a lot of trading on Calguns & the iTrader (feedback) is right there in the user info. Very handy.
As for deleting sales info, I'm with Jimmy but understand why somebody might want the details private. None of my business & really the seller's prerogative.
People in Free States would probably gasp at the prices I've paid for some of my stuff.
