Was considering a rant of some sort meself; not sure how it is over there, but over here in the UK, I've concluded that with say 8/10 people, especially with my new job, don't bother with humour nor conversation...It's been pretty tough, but I'm getting used to being in an office without saying a word to anyone for a good 7 hours +...
Chances are, with humour - they either wouldn't get it or they'd take it the wrong way...
Of course, nobody would consider themselves to not have a sense of humour would they? Maybe, they think if they laugh at their own jokes, they've got a good sense of humour...
Don't bother with conversation - as far as I'm concerned, conversation is two-way. The way it is with an increasing number of others, is they're only interested in their own voice and trivial things like what they had for lunch. Their favourite subject is themselves. And no matter what you've seen, been and done - they've been there, done there, got the t-shirt, and if they haven't, they sure know someone who has...
Seems the dull and humourless are also delusional; they think they're interesting with a good sense of humour...
As I said, it's pretty tough, but I can get a pretty good disposable income and that's what I think about during the day. It's even crossed my mind to take up shooting again...

I find the errors in attempted humor just as funny. Then again, if you have no funny bone, then you might not find it humerus.
It can be hard to convey the right sarcastic tone in an email or text message or online post without giving it away that you are being facetious.
I have been told I have a very dry sense of humor so I have been careful at work to avoid trying to be funny. So much so that when I did make a joke in a group setting, one of my coworkers of about 10 years was shocked and actually made a comment about how I had made a joke.
Most humor is such because there is something in it that is incongruous.
Sometimes when such examples occur unintentionally you have to laugh, and when you realize they were serious, you have to pardon yourself and laugh even harder.

Yup... Especially with forums...
It seems that unless you include the obligatory *Wink* , *Smiley Face* , or *Big Grin* at the end of your comments, SOMEone is bound to Not 'Get it'.
Heck... Some people are so thin skinned that even when one does include emoticons, they STILL get insulted.

lately in the Forum, so I decided to post one of my own. Many times, someone will make a post or post a picture intended to be humorous. Then, the boo birds come out of the woodwork, complaining about everything from historical inaccuracies to the correct location of a species. They seem to feel the need to instruct everyone on why its wrong. LIGHTEN UP! Its just a funny picture, not a treatise on indigenous flora & fauna, & its not a history lesson either. ITS JUST A FUNNY PICTURE! Somethings should be taken at face value, not fine combed & raked over. You can find fault with anything if you try hard enough. If I post something I think is funny its because I think that others here might find it funny also. I know that there are plenty of people here that have the same twisted sense of humor I have, its one of the main reasons I enjoy this place so much! OK. Flame suit is on...
