Since this is my thread this kind of embarrassing.

I have been having a hard time answering my own question. Right now what would I really like to find?

I have been on a tear for the last 18 months feasting on lovely Smith revolvers (and a few pony guns).

My appetites has pretty much been satisfied, sated. I even looked on GN's list of S&W revolvers hoping I had forgotten something I wanted. I am into modern Smiths.

The one thing that got my interest is a .22 pistol for a bug.

The model 61 Escort. Need to read up on this first.

And then there is another pistol I think I would like but you'll have to help me ID it.

I saw a photo of what looked like a Colt Woodsman but was a Smith. Might have been called something like a 'straight line Smith'.

Does anyone know what it might have been? It had about a 7 inch pencil barrel and the angle on the grip was close to the Colt Woodsman.

If I found a Smith that shoots like or nearly as good as a Colt Woodsman I might go after it. Could it have been a single shot competition pistol???

Thanks in advance for any help.

I suppose you are aware that S&W made two descendants of the M-61 you have pictured, the M-2213 & M-2214, very similar but different and a slightly longer barrel. I believe them to be a refinement of the original M-61 design! This is in case you were not already familiar.

Yes, you're thinking of the Straightline single shot. Hope you've got a lot of money, not to mention the difficulty of even finding one for sale. Do a forum search for straightline and you'll find several references.

Fourth Model Straight Line - Proud moment

It is unusual in that it breaks sideways - the pivot pin is vertical and the barrel swings horizontally.

Tom that is the one I saw. Not sure I would want a specialty pistol like that.

I think I will just work with the Colt Woodsman for the time being.

Thanks for the info.

I cant say these are rare but worth showing.
First is a triplelock .44 special that was sent back to the factory in 1949 and target sights installed. One over it is a 1950 target.

Second pair is a 27-2 and a 29-2 both in 5"s. The 29-2 may have been cut back.

3rd pair is a 25-5 on top and a 24-3 on bottom.

Last one is a Lew horton special, a ported and trilijon night sighted 3" 66-3.

Here is a old American. The barrel has been cut back. It was found in a barn that was being tore down in Montanna at what once was a stagecoach stop.

A HD that I had converted to .44 special about 35 years ago. I had found a model 21 barrel and just had that swaped out and the clyinder reamed. This one I just might get reblued someday. Debateing it. Bedtime.
