We rented "Out of the Furnace" the other week. It's a gritty drama about two brothers, starring Christian Bale.

I thought it was pretty good, the Mrs. gave it a "meh".

What movie did you see recently, and did you like it?

Last one I saw was Jack Reacher. My wife and I both enjoyed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jack Reacher, but it's probably all but out of the RedBoxes by now. Just the other night, I rented 'The Art of the Steal', with Kurt Russell and Matt Dillon. First time I've seen Kurt in a film in a long time, and I thought it was great. Low violence, little cursing, and no nudity were a BONUS.

American Hustle.....Two thumbs down.

Django Unchained.....Two thumbs up.

Disneys 'Frozen' with my daughters......no I personally did not like the movie, and they have been singing songs from the movie for a couple weeks now. So i'm really not liking it now.

My wife and I had a date and went to see "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" and we both enjoyed it.

Last one I saw at the movie theater was Oblivion. Really enjoyed it. A lot of the grand scenic stuff was done using back projection with modern equipment rather than green screen. It works.

The last one that I saw on cable that I enjoyed was Star Trek: Into Darkness. Benedict Cumberbatch played a brilliant baddie.

Saw Pacific Rim the other week. Transformers meets Battleship = Meh. Good enough romp if you have nothing better to do, I suppose.

I saw Captain America Winter Soldier and liked it.

I honestly don't remember. Whatever it was must have made a hell of an impression.

Since my wife and I take turns picking on Netflix the last pick was hers, "Young Victoria" about young queen Victoria and her marriage to Prince Albert. I liked it. My last pick was "American Hustle" and I loved it. Watched it twice.

It was a cute romantic comedy with a cute young woman.Too bad I'm an old cynic

"The Dallas Buyer's Club" with Mrs/ Double-O, and "Blast from the Past" with Mrs. Double-O and the little Double-Os. We thoroughly enjoyed both movies. "Blast from the Past" is an older movie, but a lot of good, clean, family fun, and worth the effort to find a copy of it:

We don't go to the movies very often...my wife is disabled, and she can't sit in the movie seats for very long. My middle son and I usually go to movies when he comes out to visit, so I usually just wait until he's here to see something. The last three movies I saw with him were "Skyfall", "Jack Reacher", and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" (we are big LOTR fans.)

I was prepared to detest "Jack Reacher" since I have read all of Lee Child's books, and Tom Cruise is about as far from Jack Reacher as one can get...in fact, I wasn't going to go, but my son said he'd pay so at most I'd only be out a couple of hours. I actually enjoyed the movie very much. They didn't even address the size issue, or try to make Cruise look larger than he is...and it was a very believable rendering of the book.

Just watched "The Illusionist" with Edward Norton,Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel. Anything with Norton or Giamatti gets a thumbs-up from me! And Miss Biel is real easy on the eyes.

I'll start off by pointing out that Wes Anderson movies are not everyone's cup of tea. I, however, like his work, enough so that I had to see "Grand Budapest Hotel" on the big screen. I loved it, and can't wait to see it again. Ralph Feinnes usually plays serious roles, but he's very good at comedy. The rest of the cast was excellent also.

I hadn't been to the movies for a while. I went by myself, (the Missus doesn't appreciate Mr. Anderson's work), and I had a small popcorn, a small Coke, M&M's, and it was 23 bucks! I can see why I don't go that often!

I saw 'Monuments Men' a few months back...it was pretty good. There were some historical inaccuracies, as you might expect (I don't think there were any portable showers set up during the Battle of the Bulge) but it was a good flick overall.

My sweetie had Pulp Fiction on the other night. I have always enjoyed that movie, but I only caught snippets. I don't need to see it that many times.

The last one I sat all the way through was The Paperboy. I liked Pete Dexter's novel a lot. The movie was pretty good, not great.

Haven't been to a theatre in 10 years. Nothing out there that can't wait till it hits On Demand. To the question, Gangster Squad. Not a bad shoot-em-up.

Don't remember the name but Gabby Hayes was singing "Come back to Sorrento." It was pretty good with lots of fighting.

Cockneys Vs. Zombies. I liked it.

The wife had her annual 'hen party' here last night. I skipped out early, grabbed a sandwich at Jimmie Johns and then watched 'Brick Mansions' AND 'Neighbors' at the local movie house just as a getaway for the evening. Both were a complete waste of time. All due respect to Paul Walker but I just can't get into all the unrealistic theatrics they use in action movies. Neighbors was too stupid to to even be funny. Glad this happens just once a year. Got home at 10:00 just in time to watch Fargo. It was great. The wife had a good party though.

Though I've seen it many times, "Full Metal Jacket" was on one of the movie channels yesterday and I recorded it on the DVR. Might watch it this afternoon.

Saw "Monument Men" yesterday - very good. Enjoyed seeing Nick Clooney again - he was the news anchor for one of the Cincinnati TV stations when we lived in the area many years ago.

Chick movie alert! Labor Day with Pierce Bronson. Good movie, 95% love story, 5% cautionary tale. The female lead....well, they say that men think with the middle... With this woman it was the same yearning.

The wife or gf will love you for suggesting it.

I'm pretty sure that whatever it was, it was Disney or Pixar and there were multiple grand-nieces in the room. Probably "Brave".

"Monuments Men", a subject that is still in the news even today, as I read about a huge collection of stolen art just recovered from the attic of a dead 89 year old.

I knew some priceless art was recovered in WWII, I did not know it was part of any special unit.

Before that it was "American Hustle", with what I thought was some great acting by all involved.

Last movie we went to the theater to see was The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug. My wife called it the Desecration of Tolkien.

I was horribly disappointed at how Jackson turned it into a video game. When he was letting New Zealand look beautiful and the story at least slightly followed Tolkien, I was happy. BUT, all the added action sequences that were nothing more than video game sequences ruined it for me.

I rented it a few weeks ago, same exact thing happend. I thought it was pretty good, the wife MEH!

The Wolf of Wall Street. Pretty good flick. A little much on nudity and language but ...... seems that's "normal" today.

Ender's Game. I enjoyed it, and since it is one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read, I was prepared to be disappointed. My wife also thought it was a really entertaining movie. She had no idea about the storyline.

I saw this at the theatre with my 14 year old son, his 16 year old cousin and his friend. All of us thought it was a good movie.

I just watched Prisoners on HBO and I thought it was really good. It did not end like I thought it would.

The Flowers of War...about the Rape of Nanking during WWII. Good movie.

I saw the Reacher film. It was a pretty good rendition of the Lee Child's novel, but they missed the bad guy's background by a country mile, which would have explained his ruthlessness to the audience.

On another note, I saw this sci fi flick last summer, and found it very thought provoking.

Im stuck only watching classic Westerns lately.Recently seen: Comanche Territory w/Maureen O'Hara etc, and last night before beddiebye time--Whispering Smith w/ Alan Ladd.Im not a big Ladd fan but, he was excellent in that movie.

My wife and I saw Gods Not Dead. It was great.

In a theater about 15 years ago. Prices were getting ridiculous and too many problems like obnoxious people and it morphed from beepers going off to cell phones. Nuff said!

WE have HBO and watch it if there is something worthwhile to see on occasion. I think the last movie I watched was a repeat of “The Hunt for Red October” or FMJ.
