Default Deleting old PMs

I've had some memorable exchanges with forum members via PM. Some quips and comments that either would be lost (or uninteresting) on some readers or might not make it past the mods for one reason or another.

There have been apologies, advice, clarifications, heart-felt well wishes and humor that I hate to delete. All help to humanize members to me that are otherwise just an anonymous forum character.

Why I even exchanged some questionable humor with the forum top primate a couple weeks back. I think he worried he'd get dinged by a mod if he'd posted on my thread.

I only keep either the last in or out PM of a conversation and clean out the others, but my PM box is always running close to capacity.

Anyone else have this dilemma?

I just click on each PM, go to the bottom and click on delete it then go and my box is always empty. You have to click on each PM to delete them individually.

There's always the option of donating; you can keep a pile of PMs that way:

My wife never deletes anything...she has thousands of e-mails in her gmail account, and hundreds of text messages in her phone. Me, I'm the exact opposite...I delete everything. There are a few e-mails I keep, but very few. As for PMs on forums, I never keep any once the deal is done, or whatever issue is resolved.

I delete PM's once the exchange has served its purpose.

I delete e-mails except the loony ones from my brother, who is the funniest man I've ever known personally despite being gravely ill. I have about 17,000 of his short masterpieces stored. Literally true.

Awesome. Perhaps you'll favor us with some of them - and God be with your brother.

There are some I'd like to keep. Is there a way to save them to a file or off the forum?

Don't you get an email notice when you get a PM on the Forum? I don't remember if its something you have to set up or not, but I get one. From there its a simple matter to set up a folder & just move them. You still have to get on the Forum to reply, but the email notice will have the entire content of the PM. Works for me. Once those notices are deleted from your email inbox, though, I don't know what you"d have to do to transfer PM's from the Forum to your files.

D'OH! Never thought of that! I'll be doing that in the future.

Some forums only tell you have a PM and must go to the site to read it. Here it comes in on your e mail so as mentioned just save the email to a file. Most of mine I do not wish to save
