The United States of Secrets
Just finished watching this documentary about the NSA and their massive programs to collect information on all US citizens after 911. All this time I was in the dark about how they did it and to what extent it was and is done. I was pretty clueless. If you think your 2A has been violated you should see what they do to your 4A rights. I had a hard time believing the gov't would go to these extremes to cover it up.
2 parts can be found here. 2nd part discusses what Snowden did.

Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve and get neither.

Most of us should have crossed George Orwell's novel "1984" by now, at least in conversation. This is where the term "Big Brother" came from. It's very disappointing for those who love what the U.S. stands for. Federal govt. has lots of funding to outfit state, county and city governments with SWAT teams. What does the Dept. of Agriculture need with a militarized police force? It's true, though.
So how are we supposed to protect ourselves against door-to-door searches and seizures when facing that? It's not a rhetorical question. What is your answer?

Did not watch it on Frontline. However NPR is a pretty liberal outfit.
Worked in the intelligence gathering business and can tell you that NSA does not care who you are sleeping with, what time you got home last night, where you went, how drunk you got, how you did at the range, etc.
There are about 2 BILLION cell phone calls per second and they are looking for maybe one or two that will help put the puzzle together.
They had Ben Laden's number and were monitoring him. Some one who was given the info that they were listening gave it to the NYT and it took almost 10 more years to find him.
The intelligence community is not NCIS, CSI, Hawaii 50, 48 hours, etc. it is a painstaking slow process of putting small pieces together to finish the puzzle before it blows up in your face.
I do not believe they are monitoring U S Citizens on a regular basis.

In 1985 everybody was saying, "Well, 1984 never happened like Orwell predicted." It turns out that George was just about 15 years early."

I'm pretty sure that Google alone is trying to find out when you last sneezed and what brand of facial tissue you buy.
The amount of snooping on the Net really ought to be illegal.
