PPT fee....who pays?
When selling a gun, is it assumed the buyer pays the PPT fee? I never see it in ads and was just wondering.

This may be the obscure California Pansy Protection Tax.
It is used for the insurance fund that protects people who
get their feelings hurt because you have a gun.
Sort of a west coast thing............

Private Party Transfer fee. In California, every firearm transfer must be done through a CA licensed FFL. No such thing as two guys in a parking lot. The FFL will charge a fee for doing the transfer.
Edit: To answer Sip's question, I would presume the buyer pays it, unless the seller offers to split it.

Would be if he was buying from me.
I want 500 for the gun. If it costs 50 bucks to ship it to you, you're paying the 50. 50 more for an FFL to receive it? You're paying that. I don't care WHAT the total cost is - fees, licenses, shipping, receiving - not my concern. I get 500 dollars.
Seems simple to me.

My LGS only charges me $20. He's a small shop I like to deal with. His bigger-volume counterpart down the street charges $40.
Is PPT the California term for this? Maybe I've just never paid attention to what it's called; I always just think of it as the gun shop's fee. And yes, I as the buyer am the one who pays it. If the seller ever wants to, well, he's my friend for life I guess!

Don't have to do that here. If you go through a dealer then the buyer pays. Most dealers here don't charge to receive a gun into the shop just for the transfer out and the NICS check.
