"Magnum P.I." and a Pristine Nickel M19
I was watching an episode from about 1981. The "Bad Girl" digs into Robin Masters' gun safe and pulls out a pristine M19 2 1/2 inch in nickel plate with round-butt factory stocks.
Higgins walks in and she shoots him. Later Magnum confronts her and convinces her to give up the M19.
It totally ruined the rest of the show for me when the M19 was first viewed. My continual thought for the rest of the show was..."I wish I could go back then and buy one of those brand, factory, new!"
Not even the later bikinied lassies could get my mind off of the S&W.
I am too old.

You have it real bad!
That made me smile. Thanks for sharing. If you are like me, I could handle the model 19. The bikinied lasses probably not.

My very first revolver was a Model 19 nickle finish. OK it was a 6 inch. Was very proud on it. Sold it years later of to buy a 2e generation Colt SAA.
Still have the Colt. But regred to that I have sold the Model 19.
I do still recall the number 44K4457. You do stupid things sometimes.

Remember when a date with a bikinied lass was expensive and a 2.5" 19 was cheap?

One way or another the date was never inexpensive and the 19 was never cheap. Either tended to make one want more of same.
Of course the M19 could keep its looks and functionality for decades.

And....
One appreciates in value. The other, in some circumstances, continue to cost you money.

My first revolver was also a 6" nickle model 19. Had to get my dad to sign for it and do all the paperwork as i was only 17.
That gun shot like a champ and i fed it a steady diet of full house factory .357 mags as i had not yet discovered the joys of hand loading. I also traded mine away on something i can't even now recall.
The model 19 will always be a favorite of mine.

Faulkner Thanks for posting that. I handled that very gun years back when it was on display before the Auction.

I can't read the slide. Is that a commercial .45 with plastic GI grips?
I always was amused that Magnum used a .45 auto; not a Magnum revolver. But fans of snub M-19's or 66's could watch Simon & Simon. One of those brothers had one and the other a M-29 or similar.

I too liked the idea of Magnum using a .45 Auto. In one of his earliest shows he was using a Star 9MM with the external extractor.
It appears that the M1911A1 pictured has the early (pre-1920) type safety.
I like K-Frame S&Ws. But heck I'm a pushover. I like all I, J, K, L, and N Frame S&Ws.
