Ten Guns - Pick'em
I can't resist. I replied to a thread about just one gun, I even started one, then someone said something about picking ten guns instead of just one.
So, here's the deal - if you own ten or more guns you have to pick your own guns to make this top ten list. If you don't, then you can supplement with any other guns you'd like to own. For this ten gun list it's any guns for any purpose, handguns, long guns, just list them. Reasons why are not necessary. Here goes mine (that's how I feel today, anyway!):
Handguns:
S&W Model 10 2" .38 Special
S&W Model 686+ 2.5" .357 Magnum
S&W Model 27 4" .357 Magnum
S&W Model 649 .38 Special
Browning Hi-Power 9mm
Rifles:
Remington Model 788 .308 Caliber
Winchester Model 93 .30-30
Springfield M1A 7.62 NATO
Remington Nylon 66 .22 LR
Shotguns:
Ithaca Model 37 12 Gauge

S&W Model 19 2 1/2"
S&W Model 29 6"

I really couldn't pick just 10. I kinda went through my inventory and listed some of my favorites. I'd probably answer differently tomorrow. These are not necessarily my most valuable guns, but ones that I like for whatever reason. Some will seem like odd choices to you guys.
S&W 58 no dash 4" blued, 1966 vintage (S prefix)
S&W 25 no dash 6" blued, 1960 vintage (S prefix)
S&W 27-2 6" nickel transition (recessed cylinder, barrel not pinned)
S&W 25-11 Heritage (only about 150 made).
S&W 29-2 4" blued with clamshell case (1966, S prefix)
S&W 24-3 collection (3", 4", and 6" barrels). OK, so I'm cheating.
Colt 1911 Combat Elite (my 25th anniversary present)
Marlin 1894 Cowboy .22 lever rifle
Browning Citori White Lightning O/U shotgun (gift from the wife and kids)
SKB 885 0/U shotgun (celebrated 20 years of sobriety about 7 years ago)

Shotguns:
Ithaca Model 37 12 Gauge

What is a Winchester M-93? Do you mean a Model 92 or a Model 94? I sense a typo there... I think they had a Model 93 shotgun, a predecessor to the better known Model 97. But you have it listed as a rifle.
Unfortunately, I think South Africa does have a ten gun limit, unless maybe one holds a collectors' license. I'm glad that we don't have to live with that here.

Ten guns. Yeah I can do that, maybe.
SA:
Kimber 1911 Custom Compact Aluminum (EDC Primary)
Revolvers:
S & W 642-1 1.875 (EDC BUG)
S & W M19-3 2.5"
S & W M48-3 6" with matching 22LR Cyl. & Crane (One Gun, Two Cals. Yeah I Cheated )
Ruger OMSBH 44 Mag 7.5"
Long Guns:
Benelli SBE2 ComforTech 12 Ga 26"
Remington 1100 12 Ga 28" Mag
Browning X-Bolt 270 Win, Leupold 4.5 - 14 x 40
US RIFLE, CAL 30M1 International Harvester 4641197
Weatherby MkV 300Wby, Wby Imperial 2 - 7 x 32
If you had made this your TOP 50 I'd still be perplexed.
Class III
Edit: The one gun that I LOVE that did not make my TOP 10 is a Nickel M59. It saved my *** from a belligerent neighbors dog after the dog sank his teeth into my right leg. I and the pistol survived. Dog, not so lucky.
Edit #2: A CLOSE #11 would be my Winchester M61. So close it almost bumps my M66-3 from the top 10.

You know what, ten is still not enough. Can we try twenty? Or thirty?

That is FUN, y'all. I might have to start some variations.
Quote:
What is a Winchester M-93? Do you mean a Model 92 or a Model 94? I sense a typo there... I think they had a Model 93 shotgun, a predecessor to the better known Model 97. But you have it listed as a rifle.
|
TYPO is correct! I meant Model 94. I have a Model 97 shotgun, too, but that's just a cowboy action toy, it's too fragile for serious work. I have quite a few 94s, not all .30-30s, but I limited myself to one. A BB XTR in .375, as someone else noted, would certainly be fine for this list and I have one of those, too.
I need to think of more twisted lists.....

Ten guns? Let me see, whoops, I forgot that I lost all of them in a boating accident years ago and I can't seem to remember what they were........ Dang.

I chose mainly on how much fun they are to shoot, and also the cool factor. Incidently, they also filll my self defense needs. Here are the rifles, in no particular order:
Springfieled M1A.
Springfield M 1903.
Winchester 52 Sporter.
Colt M4 Carbine, this one with Eotech sight.

I'm not a big shotgunner, can't hit anything with them, so I only have one shotgun:
12 gauge Charlin. A very plain grade of Charlin.
On my wish list:
Hammerli free pistol.
S&W Model 52-A. Saw one recently for $4900. More than I can spend.
Winchester pre 65 M 70, super grade, 30-06.
Darne SXS rifle in 8X57JRS or 375 H&H. Darne is still in production and their on-line catalog will keep you awake at nights.

Reason: add to wish list.

Four M4A1 carbines with attached M203 Grenade Launchers
Two SAW M249s, with Trijicon sights
One M240 Light Machine Gun, again with optics
One Browning M2
Two Barrett M107s, with optics
And sufficient Marines to operate them!
