If we could just stop the NRA from handing out free guns to criminals in Chicago everything would be fine. That may sound sarcastic but based on some comments I have read on news sites about the Chicago weekend it sure sounds like that is what some people must think is going on.

Amazing how safe one of the cities with the most severe gun control is.

The Police Chief is blaming the shootings on... get this... lax gun laws everywhere else.

The really odd thing is a few days ago Chicago mayor's office announced gun homicides were down this year. Then they dropped the other shoe....gun shootings are higher this year, i.e. the shooters are trying but struggling with poor marksmanship.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel still toes the liberal party line: We must find more things for our "young people" to do in the summer. With a plan like that, the real solution may be to provide marksmanship training. Then maybe they'll wipe themselves out.

Chicago's PC was a drunken clown in NYC and he continues being a stooge in Chicago. Lax gun law's. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. I could be wrong but no one believes this except the " true believers ", and the only way to stop this carnage is too go after the thugs and gang members FEDERALLY and lock them up for the rest of their lifetimes.

The term “gun violence” seems to have been coined by either the anti-gun media or some other anti-gun group in an effort to vilify the tool used to perpetrate violence on another.
Somewhere someone said, “If we call it ‘gun violence’ that will make it sound like guns are bad. We should do that.”
You and I know guns are neither good nor bad. Guns cannot do anything on their own. A gun cannot be violent any more than can a hammer, or a bowling pin or a rose bush. A gun can be used during violent acts. But here is something interesting: a violent act is not always a bad thing. Righteous violence in defense of the innocent is a good thing and should be applauded. Yet still the media and anti-gun politicians continue to beat the drum of “gun violence” in America as if to say, “If we take away all the guns, there will be no more violence.”
Several years back politicians also said, “If we take away all the booze, no one will drink and all those problems will go away.” We saw how that turned out. It spawned the largest crime wave in U.S. history and directly gave rise to criminal syndicates that are still running today.
Since 1993 crime has been dropping. Despite a few recent high-profile cases, the numbers of mass shootings have been dropping. Armed citizens regularly intervene to protect others by employing or threatening to employ violence with a gun. But the media doesn’t report on that. Criminals are much more interesting. Guns work. Violence, when employed against criminal predators, benefits honest citizens.
So I ask again, “What is gun violence?”
It is a fantasy term. It is political spin designed to dupe the masses. If the media and the politicians can keep you thinking that guns are bad and keep telling you that reducing the number of guns will reduce crime, maybe you will believe them and one day give up your freedoms.
Our Founding Fathers knew that each individual citizen of a free nation would need guns in defense of those freedoms. To restrict guns is to restrict our ability to, when needed, draw a line in the sand and be able to back up our words.
So many liberals will decry such ideas as something that will never happen and that the right to bear arms against the government is something that simply is not and will not be needed.
I give to you “The Battle of Athens, Tennessee” when, in 1946 after election fraud and voter intimidation in the elections of 1940, 1942, and 1944, the citizens of McMinn County took up arms to finally stop corrupt politicians.
We need guns. Righteous violence works to protect Americans. Don’t let liberals use the term “gun violence.” Call them on it, every time. Guns are not violent.

The W.E. count is actually 80-82 shot 12-14 dead. That compares to 75 shot last 4th W.E.. There's been an upsurge in wildings where the dis advantaged youth band together and harass, beat, and rob citizens in downtown Chicago. The media is squetching reports of these incidents so as to not discourage tourism.
Assuming each wound required hospitalization and at least $10,000 in resulting costs, that's $800,000 in taxpayer money that could have been used to rehabilitate and buy housing for our wounded troops. I can't imagine the total of the money wasted treating bullet wounds in these gang banging morons across the U.S..

Think about it this trend could sweep across our country really quick.

When I was a kid in the city we had a boys club, ymca, cyo at the local church, we had boy scouts. We grew up responsible and respected everyone.

The Feds are not the answer to ANYTHING except customs, immigration, armed services and the post office, and not everyone agrees on how well they have handled those.

Clearly, the problem in Chicago is the law. Unfortunately, it is questionable whether eliminating the law in Chicago will eliminate all problems, and it ain't going to happen anyway.

Stand clear, and wait until they all kill each other.

So you do not agree that using Federal statues for such crimes as Carjacking, Racketeering, and firearms violations of the Federal code wouldn't help. Really? I don't much like 'em either but when it comes to gangs and other organized crime, Federal time beats state time.

I believe the biggest cause is similar to the Palastinian problem. No jobs, no future, no hope. There is nothing to keep them occupied. It is no secret that young men with nothing to do will find something to do and it is usually not good.

Exactly. There's no one to motivate them. With the lost of jobs in this country what is there that they can focus on for there future success.

I quite school because I got tired of taking bottles back to the store for the deposit so we had bread to eat. I was thankful to have a sandwich. I grew up with nothing but my desire to do better. I had no guidance but my dad instilled in me the right from wrong. It's called the fear of God. I feared the old man if I screwed up. Crime isn't the way to go. I was too broke to do drugs.
I kept my drag race car running. I was a gear head. I worked three jobs when I got married with a son and wife to support.
These kids aren't bad there's a good kid inside every bad kid trying to get out. There is a future for them if they work towards it and never lose the motivation or focus. These kids need a positive mentor in there lives.

I worked in all those effected areas in the 60's and 70's when you could get a job anywhere. Nobody worked, because no one took the time to raise their kids properly and make sure they got an education, add to that no card carrying fathers to set goals and apply a back hand on occasion. If you get entitlement money but you or yours go to work and your gov. handout is reduced accordingly, why work. There's an attitude that working is for chumps. They actually believe bullet wounds and jail time like are merit badges.

The state needs to figure out its own problems. There is no Constitutional authority for the Feds to handle intrastate problems, although there is considerable unConstitutional attempt to do so.

Would you rather the Feds run everything so that all 50 states can be like Illinois?

I'll bet these shootings took place in the areas of Pulaski Park, River West, Bucktown, Wicker Park, East Village, and Noble Square.

I think the single parent moms can't to it all too. Even though they try to do the best they can. It's the outside peer pressure that makes these kids turn to the dark side.

I sat in a car at 16yo and watched my buddy cook his heroin in a spoon. He goes you want some? Before I could answer my buddy on the other side of me goes Bill lets go work on our cars. I'm glad we chose the right path in the fork in the road. I lost a lot of my friends I grew up with as little kids to drugs back in the late sixties. I did lose one to gun violence. A kid showed up one day to our hang out. My buddy knew this kid was bad. He told everyone to leave him alone. But of course we all had tough guys in every crowd. They pushed him and out came a 22cal rifle. One buddy died because they were dumb. I was home that night in bed. I was lucky when the bullets were sprayed. I dodged a bullet.

I taught my children that all you have to be there in the crowd even though you did nothing your busted too.

All I can say if you have the time and can give something back be a big brother or mentor. These good kids need help and you can make a difference.

Sadly, too many innocent bystanders get shot in the plan...

The sheriff of Kern County, CA issues more CCW permits than any other county in CA. No one was shot over the weekend in Kern.
