Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water ...
NJ.com reports there is a 15' anaconda patrolling a local lake. That's a big nasty snake to accidentally come upon in the water.
Expert: Lake Hopatcong snake an anaconda, but I was 'sworn to keep my mouth shut' | NJ.com

An anaconda in NJ? I wouldn't think they could survive the winter!

That's only a little over half the size anacondas can get to be.
Texas and Florida bass fishermen swear they use the larger ones for bait.

If you want to use an anaconda for bait in south Texas, you have to find the anaconda before the roaches get to it. ;-)

I read that story on a different news site this morning (didn't read the poster's link), and it was listed at 16 feet.
However there's a lot of estimating and guessing going on.
If there actually is a snake, I'll eat my favorite hat if it's over 12 feet long, and would probably put money down at it being less than ten feet long.
