Default New York S&W Forum Member Picnic

Please see post #67.

My friend Kozmic and I thought we'd try to throw a Forum picnic together and invite our New York brethren.

This is an open invite to Smith-Wesson Forum members in & around New York State. If anyone is sick enough to cross the state line into NY, they are welcome too.

Time / Date: August 23, 2014 1:00 PM +/- until ?

Place: Casa de Hillbilly - In Central NY.

We picked my place due to the centralized location within the state, as well as the fact that we are gun-friendly and it's FREE!

Details: A backyard BBQ with the normal stuff - burgers, hotdogs, etc.

I live near the middle of nowhere - that means we can be a bit loud and boisterous - music and/or gunfire won't alarm the neighbors, etc.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite S&W's for some recreational shooting and/or show & tell.
We have plenty of parking at the house. There is lodging within a reasonable driving distance if needed.

PM myself or Kozmic for more details and/or personal contact info., etc.

PM me for directions.

Other pertinent info:
We are asking for a $5.00 ea. donation to cover the cost of food, drink, etc.
BYOB
Bring a lawn chair/folding chair, etc.
Families welcome.
Bring your wife! Bring your girlfriend! (Just don't bring them together!)

IMPORTANT!!
If you come from out of state, DO NOT bring any handguns with you (as per state law)!

I'm sure I missed something.
Check back often for changes and updates.

We hope to see you on Aug 23.

* Send me a PM --->http://smith-wessonforum.com/private...newpm&u=195660

Thumbs up Guaranteed good time!

Bump to top.

Any of you NY or nearby forum members up for a "meet and greet" picnic? Good way to put a face (ugly mug) to a name and make some new friends. Put an exclamation point on the summer with a quick road trip and good time.

Bring the family (or escape the family) for a day!
Plenty of places to see and to stay close by if you wanna make an overnight or weekend of it (including Turning Stone Casino, Saratoga Springs, Cooperstown/Baseball HOF, etc.)

I would love to have a forum picnic here in West Hollywood but I have a feeling I would have tons if leftovers.

Wrong weekend for me Hillbilly, I'll be in Carlisle Pa attending the annual vette show that weekend.
I'll be watching should the date change.
Great idea, and long overdue.

Glad to see some Forum groups starting. If anyone is near Ohio, look for the post on the NE OHIO bunch. Good luck, hope you have a good turn out and the weather cooperates. Larry

You need to be more friendly and out-going! The left-overs will take care of themselves. ;-}

Rob ... You do know that August 23 is Keith Moon's birthday, thus a raucous time will be had by all.

Of course, you'll be relegated to firing NY compliant rubber bands off your finger tips re: lawful shooting hijinks.

All of the New York New Yorkers are down here. They should have a party at Sal's.

Since you're like only a few hours or less south. You definitely will need a doctor's note to get out of coming!

That's by design my friend. He's got the NSA scratching their heads too. Drones are definitely in season in his parts.

If you get that close will issue you a decoder ring. That'll get you safe passage to the picnic.

Great Idea. Unfortunately, we have social commitments for that day, otherwise, I'd make the drive from Long Island, combining it with other things to do and see.

This sounds good, got to check the schedule for the month. I will get back to you!

Wherever its going to be is it accessible by Vette (only a couple inches ground clearance), or is a higher ridding vehicle necessary?

I think we can accommodate a Vette. The lawn is an easy transition from the pavement.
If all else fails, I've got some wooden planks that we can park you on.

If I hadn't spent so much time burning up & down 35 between Oklahoma City & Universal City TX recently I'd be sorely tempted. As it is, I'm just beginning to get over a really epic case of truck lag. I bet its going to be big fun! Totally jealous over here.

Hop on a plane Tim! I'll pick you up in Syracuse on my way to the boonies! You need a little jet lag to compliment that truck lag.

Maybe the jet lag & the truck lag would cancel each other out!?

Good God, man! You're only one time zone away. I'd think an hour wouldn't be too hard to overcome.

Sounds to me like that's yet another reason for you to come on up to NY and properly introduce yourself mister.

Fla. to N.Y. would be like flying through the twilight zones.

We need a clue to the location. What's the nearest large town?

Pray for sunshine, bbq's are better that way! Besides, I prefer to travel by motorcycle. Great idea by the way! More than likely I will be there. That's the plan anyway.

Stay safe, John

I went to the Home Depot yesterday and they actually have the snow-blowers on display already. Depressing.

Since the invention of "global warming" we're usually snow free 'til after Labor Day.

I'm planning on bringing a large tray of Wegmans cookies (including chocolate) and a vat of Nick Tahou's meat sauce for the dogs and burgers...you know, just in case you find yourself in the neighborhood Sal.

You sure you just didn't have a few too many Genny Cream Ales and it was the cottonwood trees and cat tails?

BTW, that's the reason they make orange balls.

This is a great idea! Sometimes I think a by-state subforum would be cool. All the members in a state could post get-togethers and also deals we find.

One request that would probably (no probably except some crazy crisis) guarantee me making it, would be if anyone has a 640 ProSeries they could bring along. I have not been able to put one in my hands and have wanted to ever since I learned about them. Much appreciated gentlemen!

Stay safe, John

PS: My 640 38spl purchased new by me 21 yrs ago will be along for potential buyers to view.

Picnic and swap meet. Why didn't we think of that sales pitch Hillbilly? I love it.

No 640 PS here John, but It'd certainly be nice to meet some forum mates. Hope to see you there.
