My very most favorite-est gun:

I will put it against any gun on the planet for reliability and self-defense accuracy.

I'd show you mine, but I'm carrying it.

I'm not at a computer right now so I don't have photos, but there nothing special...G19 and 642 both with character. I'll try to upload a photo later.

Thumbs up my little friend

M37 no dash 1968 model. With me most all of the time, sometimes covered sometimes not. I shoot it quite a bit and I have confidence in it's reliability and accuracy.
peace,

State law and institutional policy forbids my carrying a firearm at work.

Nice thing about a Glock, they are ugly from the factory. I don't mind doing dirty work with it on my hip. I can't make it any uglier. And it will work with or without the sawdust coating.

MY NAA 22 is with me always. I've been teased about carrying a mouse gun but it's handy. Sure takes care of rattlers with snake shot loads.

Thompson/Auto-Ordnance .45 Auto purchased in 1991 for about $310.00. Except for the grips it is factory stock.

I carry the Hornady 200 grain FMJ Semi-Wadcutter at about 950 to 1000 fps.

However I am currently transitioning to the Hornady 230 grain HP-XTP at 900 fps, which is the load shown in the pic. Seven shots at 18 yards for about 2 1/2 inches from a rest.

It is stashed at home and carried in the vehicle on road trips. It has always been 100% reliable.

The nice thing about the 1911 is they are beautiful from the factory. I don't mind doing dirty work with it on my hip. It will always be beautiful. And, it will work with or without the sand/sawdust/dirt/water/etc. coating.

Here's a pic of it after being stuck in a dust storm:

After being stuck in the dust storm, it rained. Then I had to take a shooting test with it. The gun still performed flawlessly.

Retired now, so most of my time is spent playing in the woods - fishing, wildlife photography, camping, etc. Sometimes I carry a .22, or something else to play with, but in bear and moose country, it is usually this Ruger on my belt. A 4 inch 629 goes along instead sometimes.

Affordable to own, easy to shoot and to me a 2" revolver in .38Spl. is close to perfect for my kind of yard work
Not getting worried about scratches and stuff...

Being Federal employee, I cannot carry a firearm while on duty in the lower 49. However, since being a wildlife biologist is a vocation and not a job, I often consider my work a hobby too!

This is what I carry while "working" in the woods in grizzly country.

My former "work" gun:

And here's a couple of reasons why:
