Wicked cars?
I've had a few. A 1969 Charger with a 426 Hemi. A 1970 Challenger R/T with a 440. A 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T with a 440. A 1968 Roadrunner with a 383. A 1969 Olds 442. Nearly a quarter million dollars worth of cars today.
Drove this in high school. A 1962 Polara with a hopped up 440.

Ahhh, Mopar memories. Good stuff.
'65 Polara in a 383 and '72 Swinger 318. Both mostly stock except for carbs, manifold and suspension.

68 442 olds. Bought it brand new. Brown with black racing stripe. Burned through the rear tires in 9000 miles. Ran cheater slicks (except in the winter) from there on in. Wish I still had pics but lost them.

I see our tastes in muscle cars run along the same lines:
'65 Sunbeam Tiger 289 V-8
'66 Pontiac 2+2 421 V-8
'68 Charger 426 Hemi
'71 Hemi Challenger
I wish I still owned the Tiger, Charger, and Challenger.

74 Chevy K-5 Blazer 350 2 barrel. No real power and terrible mileage, but I went thru creeks, rivers, muddy fields, strip mines and up cliffs. Had until it turned into a pile of rust, then traded it for 18 cord of firewood (almost 2 years of heating the house). Ivan

If you still had all those, that would be quite a "collection"....if you were a collector, that is.

Neat to see a few people with the Olds 442's. MY first car, in 1987, was just a plain 1972 Cultass Supreme. My father had a 1972 Cutlass S at the same time.
Now when you see these late 60's and early 70's muscle cars on the TV auctions shows, insane crazy prices for these.
If I had the "extra" money to spend and would not miss it ( yeah right) I would spend any amount to get a few 442's and a Chevelle big block convertable.
All the good hobbies cost money.

My first in high school was a 56 Dodge Coupe with the Super Red Ram,Whatta sled!
My first car out of high school was a 68 Olds 442, wish I still had it
As I grew older my main car was always an Olds until GM destroyed the brand !
The only foreign cars I've ever owned were two Austin Healey's, the first one was a 53 100-4 which of course I should have kept, first year they came here from England. The second one was a 62 3000 which was drivable but needed a major restore.
Basically all I have now are my daily drivers 05 Sierra, 2010 Chrysler and my 86 Covette.
Wish I had all the money I spent on cars over the years!

My 1st brand new car was a 67 Pontiac GTO. Like everyone else who had one of these I wish I still owned it. I've been thru several Corvettes over the years and currrently have this 89 Convertible with a removable hard top.
The car is all original paint, drivetrain, interior etc.with about 60k miles and only gets driven occasionally.
It certainly not a barn burner but will go faster then I care to anymore.
Jim

1966 GTO. 389, TriPower (3 Dueces) 4 Speed, Hedman headers, 3/4 race cam.
This was in 1970. Gas was cheap. I didn't get much more than 8-10 mpg. most of the time. But I have never had a faster car.
It was red, black interior, a real monster, and beautiful.

My first car was a 1970 Dodge Super Bee. Boy, do I wish I had it now. Second car was a 1970 Barracuda, but it was hardly wicked with a 318. I've had a lot of cars since, but none that I would call wicked. My current garage queen is a supercharged 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T. It's probably pushing 550 hp at the crank which isn't huge by today's supercar standards.

Looks like you have an exhaust leak somewhere before your chrome tail pipe because when the engine is revved there is black smoke coming from under the car. Check it out.

I always wanted an old car but could never afford one. Bought this back in 1999. Now it just sits in the garage.
Stupid me I sold the rims above. I wish I kept them

LOL! That's why I said "tail pies are not attached" in the vid. I had just swapped off the old from headers back to mufflers and the tails are just hanging on the car.
But thanks for the looking out man

Ah, Mopar...remember a '71 Plymouth GTX with a 440 Super Commando that I seemed to be constantly tinkering with. Also helped a friend build a '77 Dodge Aspen R/T with a 413 Max Wedge.

Not a sweet old classic, but my 2001 extended cab Chevy 4x4 was pretty nasty. Rolling burnouts at 65 mph, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 11.6 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Powerplant was a supercharged 5.3 liter (325 cubes) with a few aftermarket parts. Made 609 hp to the tire.
I also have a 67 Camaro that we are restoring. But without a shop since our move last year, the car is sitting on my trailer in a storage unit.

I wonder if there is "anyone" who does not suffer from the "Boy I wish I had not sold that car" syndrome? I had some I have never regretted selling, but some that were "keepers".........stupid me!

My 1967 Camaro RS is pretty wicked around here. Weekend driver and I enjoy every minute of it. It's always best to load all the range weapons up in the trunk and take a trip to the range in it.

Had the red '05 Mustang GT for a few years; swapped it last year for a car on my bucket list, the black '99 Corvette. Really enjoyed the Mustang, but I had had several of them, and I've always wanted a 'vette. I've had a ball with this car, and it gets 30 mpg on the highway to boot. Handles and runs like a dream with the 345hp LS1 small block.

Great thread.
My first car was a 71 Chevelle. Sold it and still kick myself. If I ever get too much money (not likely) that would be one of my first purchases.
Driving my current dream car. '12 Charger RT. Love it.

This is the one I kick myself over for selling....it was a rocket.

I had a '79 Camaro Berlinetta with the RS package. A bunch of money was put into the engine (heads, cams, intake, etc), but then I got a bike and never drove it...

Big fan of old muscle cars, but appreciate all cars. I'm really fond of Ford in particular. My very first car (when I was 17) was 95hp. My current car is 412hp. She ain't exotic, or rare, by any means. But she is a lot of car for a daily driver.

64 Chevy Impala 2 door hard top.
63 Bonneville with the factory hot 421 engine. It did not pull off the line but became a rocket if you would hold the petal to the metal.
Ones I should kept.
55 Bel Air 2 door hardtop.
67 Chevelle SS 396.
74 Cuda with a built 360.
75 Jeep Renegade CJ 5 with a race motor.
51 Willy's M-38.
51 Willy's M-38-A1.
61 Austin Healy 3000.
Any one of the 3 Willy's I took to bare frame and totally rebuilt.
There are more but these 2 were fun when I was 18 and 19, a 59 MGA roadster and a 57 MGA coupe.

I worked all summer long when I was 16 at a McDonalds back in 1992 so I could get my 1965 Chevy Biscayne, all it had was a 250 inline six cylinder with a 2speed powerglide. My goal was to put a 283 or a 327 to that powerglide but I got some bad advice and sold it.
Then I was on my way to look at a 74 Satellite and we spotted a bright orange 76 Duster that was once a drag car that was an 11 time class winner at the local drag strip. The guy's girlfriend made an ultimatum, the car or her. After seeing her, the car would have stayed were it was. That car started with a 318, what sat in the engine bay was no longer the 318 it started off as. It had 340 J heads, a high rise manifold, a nasty looking Holley carb and a bunch of other goodies under the hood. It also had a 3:91 posi rear end and a 6,000 stall converter which while unusually high, it worked for him with all the trophies and stickers around the house. Of course as a 17 year old this was not exactly a first drivers car. It was insanely fast. It got up to 140 mph with my uncle driving because that's where the speedo got buried. It was so powerful it was ripping the unibody apart from the frame.
My next was my favorite, a more mundane looking car, my 71 Dart Swinger with a 318 automatic. This car was originally Plum Crazy and had a black vinyl top with black stripes but it was painted over when the owner kept getting speeding tickets, eventually losing his drivers license. I had the VIN and data plate checked and it turned out to be a a rare option car. It had 2:76 gears with 10 inch power assisted drums front and rear. It was apparently ordered to do track racing out near Watkins Glen (the car was built in Ontario). According to Galen Govier the Mopar expert, it was 1 of 158 with those options ever made. It also had the 1971 only Rochester 2bbl instead of the Carter, which gave it 10 extra horsepower as it was a slightly better carb. In that car with those gears it never burned the tires and the top end was well over 110-120 and that was as hard as I would push it, and with those 10 inch drums it took corners like a cat and I learned how to drive on back mountain roads and this thing would stick right to them. I won quite a few drag races with it, surprising more than a few Mustang and Camaro owners. Unfortunately some kid on a bike rode out in front of me and I rolled it on its side. To its credit we dropped it back on its wheels and drove it home. I was going to fix it (no help from my insurance company who refused to honor the claim) and then when I went to get it inspected it was pointed out that the unibody behind the driver side door was ripped like a sheet of paper, no longer inspectable and I could not afford to repair it so I sold it. I always hoped it would turn out ok and the owner restored it.
The latest is my 74 Ford F-100 that I snagged which I was originally was told was a 360 automatic. It turns out it was a 390 which matched up to the VIN and code and from I have been told by some Ford guys was very rare to have in a short box. It has 3:08 gears and on wet roads can get a little interesting. For what was supposed to be a smogger motor this thing has power to spare even with the 2bbl. After the rebuild the only thing I ever did was add headers and dual thrush glass packs. It has a nice rumble to it until you step on the gas and then they open up to let the neighbors know you are going by.

Really wish I could find pics of my 68 442, but can't. Brown w/black racing stripe. The group of guys that I hung around with all had muscle cars.
1.68 442 (me)
2 67 GTO (Jim)
3. 67 442 (different Jim)
4. 68 Charger RT (can't remember his name)
5. 68 Chev SS 396 375hp. Can't remember his name either but I could never beat that car. Really really quick of the line.
6. 1955 Chevy w/283 punch out to 301. (Dave) Also a quick car.
We used to drag race all the time. Kinda stupid. Stop at a red light, rev up, dump the clutch, smoke the tires for a half a block & then slam on the brakes to stop for the next light. Amazing that I didn't spend some time in jail. Well actually just one night.

We have a Corvette(pictured above) and a small SUV. The Vette is our economy car and get great mileage as long as I keep my foot off the floor.

1936 Chevy next to the Dodge.
A friend offered me this as partial payment trying to buy a rental house from me last year. I was tempted for a few seconds.
A 1969 Plymouth GTX with the 426 Hemi and 4 speed.

My first new car - '64 GTO. Eventually bored (401), balanced, cam, headers, close-ratio 4 speed, and 4.33 posi. metalflake paint.

My FOP lodge has an Oldies Show every year, and they were the opening act. I'm the lodge's unofficial, official photographer, so I was photographing the show. They (the girls) are thinking about doing a car calendar, and they want me to help with it.
The main act, The Motown Experience. They are former members of The Temptations, The Miracles, and The Originals.
