Default A day in the life....

of a bridge. The Champlain Bridge between Crown Point, NY and Addison, VT. I was with family fishing and we all had our spots. I was set up in a nice spot where I had a great view of the bridge, which is only a couple of years old. I had my camera, and Saturday was such a nice day, so it started from 6am and went right through to almost 11pm in stages.

Here's the bridge at about 6 am before the sun comes up.

as the fog is burning off and the lake begins to warm up.

as the clouds roll in at about 3pm

as the sun is setting

after the sun went down the whole lake was lit up

and then as it starts to get dark the lights come on

and after dark. These lights stay on until about 11pm then only the deck lights and a few upper lights stay on. A few minutes after I took this they blacked out for the night.

The fishing wasn't that great. It rained the first night and was very cold. We caught a few sunfish, small and they were used for bait for the big fish. A couple of bullheads. Saturday was good, a lot of sunfish, some decent size, the big ones we weren't keeping went back. My brother in law landed a 30 inch bowfin. I landed more sunfish. Saturday night one of the guys had a 150 pound leader bitten in half, can't imagine the fish on the other end. One of the guys watched his 12 inch perch get eaten in front of him by what he guess when he saw it was a 40 inch plus Bowfin. Nothing but the head was left after one bite. I had a spinner bitten in half at the barrel side with one clean bite. I caught a largemouth that was about an inch under legal. I took a few large sunfish home, they're going to get fried up for lunch. It was very cold, and windy. My brother in law used to fish that spot every weekend or so for years, and he said the fishing used to be much better, but that's fishing and it beats working any day.

I grew up 20 minutes from the bridge in VT. VT had a drinking age of 21. NY's was 18. Made many a trips across the old bridge. Spent all my youth summers on the lake 2 bays North of Basin Harbor.
