....and the infidel returns.
We walked in the door at 10 minutes to one this morning. I slept until about 4 and couldn't go back to sleep...and that after having been awake for 26 1/2 hours. That area of the world is 7 hours ahead of our time. I don't know if I'm comin' or going. I carried the trash out to the curb and met myself comin' up the driveway.
Near as we can figure this was cruise number 18 or 19 but this one was a whole 'nother deal. Never been through anything like this before. In some ways it was the best yet and in some ways it was just brutal. Miss Pam and I both had some problems but nothing we couldn't recover from for the next day.
I put a 16 gb card in the camera to make sure I had plenty of space. It appears that I took 1500 to 2,000 pics and there is so much to tell that I'm going to have to do it in installments....LOTS of installments if I want to do it justice.
I haven't yet figured out how I will do it. I might separate it by ports of call or by categorys or mix it all up etc but if I want to be thorough it is going to be a chore. I'm going to have to get caught up on the honeydoos (you could lose a tall dog or a short horse in the back yard in all that tall grass. But I'll be working on the pics over the next few days till I git er done.
Anyhoo, I just wanted to check in and let y'all know that we are at home and trying to get back in to our routine. And I wanted to lay a few "teasers" on yas while I'm at it.
. A strange new way to feed the fish
. Moments of reverence
. Raising the bar on cruising and flying
. Getting kicked off a cruise ship (almost)
. The Syrians in Istanbul are restless (and Homeless)
. Cuisene - Including an new-to-us dessert to die for
PS I can't say how good it feels to be home and how happy I am that the Syrians didn't get us.
Y'all be chewin' on some a those and I'll be back later with details and pics.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves and made it back. The political situation over there is deteriorating--which was why I said erdogan was a jerk. :-))

It's a short story that ended well. Nip and tuck there for a moment.

A basic rule for cat ownership is that the way to a cat's heart is through his stomach. I keep the keys to the food pantry there fore they love me. Duke, the big guy and my "man cat" was the first to warm up to us. the two little ones held their welcome home until the goodies had been passed out.
We had all three of them in the bed with us all night long. The Man Cat like to sleep on my chest...all 23 pounds of him.

I do feel more cultured but that is mainly due to the fact that we have been hanging around with our daughter and SIL. Those folks have turned into serious wine snobs they drink wine with lunch and dinner. They start with a white wine and for warm ups and switch to red with the food. It would not be too hard to get used to the lifestyle.

Welcome back! There's no place like home eh?
Trust me when I tell you you're gonna crash out soon. It always takes me a day or two to unwind. We call it the vacation after the vacation.
I can wait for the pics and stories.
You just take care of yourself.

If you tell a stroppy Syrian in Istanbul he could be sent home, he'll stop whatever nonsense he is trying to start.

Thanks y'all, The turkey jokes are great! And Death Grip Called it. I'm still still so rummy I can barely type. Jet lag don't hardly describe it but a 7 hr difference IS a hell of a factor. I'm hoping tomorrow will be my turnaround day. We'll see...

Welcome back!
I've always wondered if people from other countries come to the U.S. and take a cruise.Maybe a 3-day barge down the Hudson?

Ya nailed it Mr. Smith! Rough but worth it. It would have been much more pleasant in the Spring or fall. The heat is awful. But it was worth it.

Welcome home!
It sounds like you had a pretty good time.
Feeding the fishes?
Where I grew up, that involved some chain, a bit of ready mix concrete, and a large bucket or two.
A foggy night was preferable.
