I believe I own the last two boxes of these in Georgia
CCI shot shells can be found in every other caliber but the supply of the .38/.357 shot shells dried up a year ago. These are older than that, as they are priced $9.99 on the back. However, when some guy in Wal-Mart this afternoon pitched a FIT because there were none to be had anywhere, I mentioned I had a box in my car. I offered him my box, in exchange for a 20 round box of Hornady Critical Defense .357 Sig, which he bought, and followed me to the car.
He was O.K. with the deal until he noticed the price tag on the shot shells, and he went ballistic. I pointed out I had offered him an even swap, not offered to pay him any difference. He cussed and screamed at me until I offered to shoot him dead and claim he tried to rob me. He stomped back into the store to get a refund, which they will not give him, as ammo sales are final.
I will never help another person, ever. I mean it this time.
I still own the last two boxes in Georgia, LOL!!

I tend to only buy the revolver shot shells, the 9mm and .40 S&W shot cartridges never worked reliably enough for my tastes. I had two other boxes of the .38/.357 variety but gave one away and swapped the other for a box of .45 Colt shot shells. I suppose I will just hold onto these.
I have never liked being called names, or having some irate person wag their finger in my face, so I got rid of him as best I could. I pity the snake that bites him, it will surely die.

I gave a box to the guy 2 doors down. He had a racoon in his attic and wanted to make it feel unwelcome. I still have some 44s and they work fine.
My old 'coon and 'possum round was the 9mm. They were plenty hot and I used them in a 547. Wish I had that gun back, too. Funny how I spend my days looking for something I sold off.

This little Star Firestar .40 S&W would eat the CCI shot shells like regular ammo. It shot most any other ammo well too, as long as it was 165-180 grain. The lighter ammo tended to not feed reliably. I have a half dozen .40 shot shells left, I will pop a few through my Sig P226 and see how that works.

Too bad the guy wouldn't go through with the trade. You each would have had something you wanted, which seems like a fair deal in my world. Some people are so afraid of being taken advantage of that they don't know what's good for them. I'm also betting it's not the last good turn you ever do

People never cease to amaze me.
He wanted .38/.357 shot shells, you wanted .357 SIG ammo, I would have thought everyone would have been happy.
If I freaked out when I went to buy .22LR because it was more than it used to be the last time it was at wallyworld I'd never buy any. Prices just about always go up over time.

Wow, you just can't fix crazy...
I know I've seen some of those shot cartridges around in the last few months. Maybe I'll buy the next ones I see. I just won't ever offer to trade 'em!

The last week of May, I hit every gun shop and Wal-Mart between Marianna, FL and Franklin, NC. There was not a box of CCI .38/.357 shot shells to be had along that corridor.
I have .357 Sig ammo, I just wanted to try that particular Hornady load.

To those who want these....
To those who want these, they are easy as pie to make yourself and a LOT cheaper than bought. Speer makes the plastic cases and plugs and a bag of #7 shot is easy to get.

I can't find those here either! And I keep hiking and seeing snakes. Heck right now I can't even find regular .38 in Vegas.

You ain't got the last two boxes of those in Georgia.
Just sayin'.
The .22 mags out of a NAA mini-revolver work pretty well, too.
That ain't your .40 (fawty) fire star for sale on the ODT is it?

I have the .22 mag shot shells for my S&W 650, they shoot O.K. but there is not much shot in those cartridges. I like the big shot shells.
I sold my Firestar several months ago. It was a decent little gun, but very heavy for it's size. Lack of parts was another concern.

I had a 10 pack .38/357 which I purchased back in the 90's.
Made a big mistake back then showing my friends, who were all able to shame me into giving them one or two.
Now, all I have left is 2.

It sounds like you only need a small quantity of these from time to time. You can make a substitute yourself using regular 357 brass, either new or resized. The only component you might have trouble finding locally is wads, and Midway has those in 2 thicknesses.
You searched for: 357 wads - MidwayUSA
You probably wouldn't even need a reloading press - just push everything down with a piece of a dowel.

You can make or buy a card wad cutter and load them yourself.

If you sharpen a piece of brass with a deburring tool,it will cut nice wads from a styrofoam plate.

Crips almighty, order the speer empty capsuls and load them yourselves. I even have a plan to try loading some 32 longs with empty pill capsuls full of shot.
I tried pulling down 9mm shot capsuls and reengineering them for my 380 but found the oal was the limiting factor. So not a good idea.
I would have laughed all the way to that fellow getting back in the door at wally world knowing that there is no bring backs for ammo.
O and, you can use gas checks as wads.

I wonder if.....
Are the capsules really needed? How would powder and soft wad in a regular case, with the shot above that and a cardboard wad on top sealed in with sealing wax or something similar do?

I've reloaded .44 and .38 with shot and yes, that is the smart and cheap route to go on these cartridges.
Just don't spill that small shot in the carpet, it's been years, but I remember the vacuum didn't want to pick it all up and I was wishing it was magnet attracted or something. Never did get all of that stuff out.

The .45 auto shot shells work well in a 625. They won't cycle a 1911. Red squirrels don't like them.

Actually, that is exactly how these cartridges were loaded for many years before Speer came out with their capsule system. You can also use a .357 gas check instead of a wad to seal the top if you want to. Midway carries them.
If you load them "hot", you might get some leading from the shot rubbing on the rifling.

I make my own. I take a 357 case and sharpen the mouth with a knife. I then use it to cut two discs from a playing card.
Then I put 5 grains of AA#2 in the case and put one of the discs on top of it. Then I fill it with 8 shot. Then put the second disc on top and put a strong roll crimp over the top of it. A couple drops of candle wax doesn't hurt either.
