Default Stinkbugs

In NC, stinkbugs have been multiplying in my area every year; this year, they're everywhere, trying to find a winter home. I like to leave a door open out here in the wilderness when the temperature is about 55-75 degrees so the animals can wander in and out, but not this year at this time.

I understand they came from Pennsylvania via the Far East.
Look, the invasions of troops and retirees have wreaked enough havoc on the South, you northerners don't have to send in the bugs!

I've always had a couple of these spiders wander in:

Latin name, scarius amongus; as long as I don't swallow one in my sleep, they don't bother me, since I've always got my crack team on the case:

But neither the cat or the golden retriever want anything to do with these darn bugs!

My southern s&w brother don't worry with all the rain we been having my equipment outside is covered with ants, uncles and spiders looking for the safer dry high ground. The other day I took a tarp off of one of my tractors and the seat was covered with wall to wall ants holding hands singing. The only thing missing was the bbq.

This IS the time of year varmints go looking for a place to winter over. Nows the time to put out those little sticky spider boxes, every year a manage to catch at least one or two good sized spiders that got past the cats. Our cats love to kill and eat spiders. We have a stinkbug I think they refer to as a box elder bug, since I was a kid we always called them anti-freeze bugs because their juicy guts are the same color as green anti-freeze...these boogers do stink and it don't wash off easy...nothing eats them, wonder why? One day of our cats was acting like he wasn't feeling real well, we noted a little puffiness on a cheek, took him to the vet...the vet said he either got stung or bit by a spider, I went on a search through the house and found the carcass of a lightly chewed on yellow jacket.

I was looking in the attic of our garage and found few Box Elder Stinkers. I quickly looked for the source and sniffed around 'cause where there's many it really stinks bad. I found a strong smell near the back wall and carefully lifted some old canvas tarps which were stacked on an old canvas tent. All I did was lift a part of the tarp and saw a whole load of 'em . I put the edge down carefully as not to disturb them and went and got a giant commercial trash bag and ever so carefully slid the whole bunch of tarps and tent in there without putting any holes in it, lol. After that wired that bag closed and out the trash it went, Hahaaaa. Got lucky 'cause after that no more stink or b***.

Could be a form of Wolf Spider or possibly a funnel web species.

We don't leave doors open in Nevada in the fall as the roaches and scorpions are always looking for places to overwinter.

We have them here. We've tried the spray and traps. If I don't see them drop I don't know if the spray has worked. I want to make sure there dead. The only things I know for sure is step on them, the chickens love them, or the ol' 5gal shop vacuum sucks them up well, just cap the end and for heavens sake don't bring it inside before it's cleaned and aired out. I usually suck up thousands of them each year not counting then ones I step on when I open any of the vehicle doors. They like getting into the door weather stripping.

We've got 'em - here's what you do : fill a tall plastic cup about 1/2 way with water - put in a couple/three drops of dishwashing soap. Put the cup under the stink bug - push it up into them - their inclination is to fly down into the cup and drown in the soapy water.

Sorry but I like watching them die - OK - go on to a better place then

What spray you using. I've tried the expensive stuff from internet and Sothern States, Tractor Supply, on to the HD and Wally World stuff and non have dropped them in their tracks.

Might kill them but they fly off and I like to watch those son of guns die.

We're getting our annual spider migration. Killed a large Widow in the garage last week.

Lots of fruit flies as the fruit is ripening and falling off as fall is here now.
