Reports a student (male) was a freshman. Shot himself (maybe over a girlfriend) and perhaps 6 others.

Unfortunately it seems like there is always another shoe waiting to drop. Its tragic, unexplainable and terrifying.
This event as past events will be used to advance certain agendas.

Let's keep the families and those impacted by this horrific tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

Sounds like we need a new law banning public schools.

I refuse to even think about any "agendas" that may be advanced by this. Not yet. I'm just praying for the kids, their parents, for the shooter's family, and for the school staff, as they deal with this horrible tragedy. To do otherwise feels callous, but then I guess I'm too softhearted. I'm a gun owner, but also a father and grandfather.

When the situation has been clarified, the wounded treated, the terrified families reunited, and the blood cleaned up, then anyone who wants to can explore longer range effects like agendas advanced and ammo availability. This is not the time for any agendas, much less flippancy, in my opinion. These situations never are, for me.

Sorry for the rant.

My daughter lives in Marysville. None of her kids are in school now. Thank God. I will call her tonight.

Even the schools that don't want to pay for guards should at least do so the month before an election since thats when these things always happen.

My grandson is a freshman at that school, and had left the cafeteria just 5 minutes before the shooting. There were some very anxious moment until his parents and grandparents knew he was safe. The unfortunate thing is this boy was also a freshman, on the football team, well liked,, just voted freshman "Prince" for the homecoming dance, from a well known and respected family. It is hard to understand what goes through the minds of these young ones, there needs to be more awareness of potential mental illness signs among our teachers and adults in general.

Of course there will be the investigations on how did he get access to the handgun, and some liberal will recommend another law to restrict access to firearms even more.

If you have read the studies done comparing home schooled children to those who attend public schools, you would find that children that are home schooled on average, are getting a much better education and a much better psychological and emotional foundation than those that go to public schools. They are more likely to be leaders and to do well in universities.

Home schooling is an idea whose time has come.

To me the most important aspect of home schooling is that the child gets his or her values mostly from their parents and selected instructors, rather than mostly from other children, television, and some liberal 23-year-old Teacher who got their values from the same place. I would never trust a child's education to the state or to strangers who don't share my values.

These are all sad situations and I'm not trained to pass judgement. I do know enough that the problem lies with the person(s) and not the weapons as recently demonstrated by axe and knife attacks. If I had my tin foil cap, well never mind. Hope calm and rational minds prevail.

That said, I feel compelled to point out a few things in this post. This is not intended for anything but to highlight that we all should pay attention to the irony of some of our messages before posting.

there should be they're
geting should be getting
