Two California Deputies Fatally Shot
Two veteran deputies of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, one a homicide investigator, have been killed by a gunman who also shot a driver whose car he was attempting to jack.
The first officer killed approached a parked "suspicious vehicle" and was shot in the head with no chance to return fire.
Damn, damn, damn.
Rest, gentlemen. You earned it many times over.

Rest in peace my brothers in arms. We will take it from here. May God grant the families, friends, and those left to carry on the service a measure of peace, comfort, and strength to get through this difficult time.
I also exhort to all to be very vigilent now. It's a little too crazy just now.

I say the Amen to pawncop. Rest in Peace. Those of us who wore the badge still bleed blue. We pray for the families of lost brothers and sisters. Let's be careful out there.

Prayers for their families as they are the one's to endure the pain.
RIP officers Danny Oliver and Michael David Davis Jr. And a complete recovery for office Jeff Davis and civilian Anthony Holmes.
Michael David Davis Jr's father was killed 26 years ago this passed Friday in the line of duty also.
Don't know why they took this guy alive.

Nut Cases Coming Out of the Woodwork
Two terrorist attacks in Canada, another one in Jamaica NY against NYPD, a school shooting in Washington State and killing of deputies in Sacramento.
Prayers for the innocent deceased and their loved ones.
If our great, all-knowledgeable fathers in government would only allow the 2nd Amendment to work as envisioned by our founding fathers, things could be different.

I hate any kind of criminal violence and unlike some I don’t give any special weight to the death of a police officer over than of an innocent citizen. An innocent life is an innocent life, no matter if he is wearing a uniform or if he is just trying to make a living for him and his family.
It is however, a sign that historical restraints that were shown against killing policemen by many criminals are fast going by the way side. I also understand that since the policemen are the front line defense against criminal activities, that they have historically tried to do anything they can, including lobbing law makers, to discourage violence against their own.
However, the idea that killing a policeman should be punished more harshly than killing a witness, or a bank teller, or some one just walking down the street is abhorrent to me. It says this life is worth more that this one. I feel the same way about any kind of privilege accorded to any special group. Such privileges fly in the face of the basic values that all men are created equal and therefore their lives have equal value in the law.
I just noticed that all the locations that you listed are areas that place many restrictions on handgun use by lawful citizens.
I wonder if anyone is doing any research on the correlation between gun control/gun restrictions and attacks on police officers.
Again, my condolences to the families of these slain men and my condolences to all the families of violence that is sweeping across my country at an escalating rate.

You totally misunderstand... it is not about the life that was lost; it is about an assault on our society. An assault on a police officer, a judge, the governor, etc. is usually considered an aggravating circumstance during the punishment phase.

Drove through Sacramento today on I80. The police and fire departments were on at least 3 overpasses, in full uniform, emergency lights flashing, and saluting. All visible flags near the freeway were at half mast. Car and truck horns on both I80 and access roads could be heard honking. I noticed no banners or signs, but they may have been present. Appears that Sacramento was giving visible support to this tragic event.

LA Times said the deputies were killed by an illegal that had been deported twice for drug dealing. This open border policy has got to go.

My daughter was in front of her job when the stolen red Ford pickup the killer stole flew past her right before he stopped and stole another vehicle and politely shot the owner of that truck in the head. I guess if you want to sneak into the U.S. and commit murder, it's best to go to a state that has the most sanctuary cities to invite and protect you. Rest in peace Officers Oliver and Davis. But your poor wives and children...It's impossible to try to make sense of such insanity. Killing people, AND creating a sick place where they feel it's safe to go and commit their crimes with the most impunity.

This.
When vermin attack police officers, prosecutors, public defenders, judges etc, it is an affront not only to the person in the role but to the fabric of societal order.
And.....This particular parasite is a previously deported felon. TWICE!

The *** who shot the deputies needs to be executed as soon as he's convicted.
1. Secure the border. If necessary, deploy a Stryker Brigade or two to patrol the fence with orders authorizing the use of deadly force.
2. Round up and deport ALL illegal aliens, except for those imprisoned for felony convictions who get deported after their sentence ends (no early release for "good behavior").
3. Repeal NAFTA.
4. Tighten requirements for visas.
5. Move screening for people flying into the US to points of origin.
6. Imprison any deportee who crosses the border illegally again for 10 years before re-deportation.

To me it brings to mind the A.B.A.T.E. bumper sticker that states " Kill a biker go to jail" I would append with "Kill a cop go to HELL"
Just my opinion

SOP for ICE. If the perp already has form for immigration offences, ICE consider they have jurisdiction regardless of the crime committed by the repeat illegal entrant. We had a bad case of this in Vegas not long ago. I think it involved child abuse and/or sexual assault.

Just saying "Rest in Peace" seems woefully inadequate. My prayers go out to the victims' families and their entire department. Reading that one of these officers had also lost his father in the line of duty made me sad beyond words.......
We'll take the watch from here, brothers.

I may have misunderstood the post by finesser who wrote that the killing of a police officer is no greater loss than that of anyone else. In its most base sense that is true. However, the men and women behind the badge, run to the fight, not away from it. Finesser, with all due respect, if you have never been in the fight, as many of us have, you might not ought to comment on the value of the officer who willingly put his or her life on the line for you. It is a Fraternity that I am proud to be a part of.

Prayers offered for the families. This should never have happened. The border situation is sickening. Rep. Steve King says that illegals kill 25 Americans every day, driving drunk or in acts of violence.

How about punishing someone for raping a two year-old child more severely than someone who raped a 17 year-old child? Is that abhorrent to you as well? There are certain things that society as a whole generally accepts as more "shocking to the conscience" based on the type of victim. Killing the people charged with going after criminals is one. Crimes against children tend to be another. Also, I think that there are provisions for more severe punishment for killing a bank teller than a regular clerk at a liquor store, for example. And killing an armored car driver during a hold-up can be punishable by death, even if the crime takes place in a state that doesn't have the death penalty.

News item just stated that the guy was arrested in Utah 10 years ago (after at least one of his deportations) but his print records were never checked against any national database because of the nature of the offense. That is plain DUMB. I've never been in law enforcement, but even I know that many a felon is busted because of other stupid minor stuff they do, like bad driving. It's in their nature, they don't obey the law, ANY law.
As for checking prints against a national database, some here may say I'm encouraging big government with national checks. Word up folks, it's been going on for years and more so since 9/11. UTah just messed up, to put it politely.

RIP Officers, your duty is done here. Go with God. And grant their families some measure of peace and comfort in knowing they have done their job.
As for the shooter - he goes no where except strapped onto a table with an IV in his arm.

I am in agreement that no one life is worth more than another as finesse r stated. I also, as most citizens, do not put policeman, judges, or any other elected official, in the same class as our military men and women. Since misunderstanding seems to be popular, could you clarify the above underlined quote? It seems somewhat threatening to finesse r who, according to his profile, actually served his country, In the fight, putting his life on the line protecting your rights. I would say that he earned his right to comment any way he damn well pleases and you should apologize profusely.
