And who can forget, "Say uncle!"

(Have you noticed that you can kinda tell which kids grew up in the tougher neighborhoods? Or, at least, played with the older kids? )

I was sitting on a curb with the roll between my knees when I did that. I swung like John Henry and was immediately rewarded and was in total shock, sitting there dazed with my ears ringing like a test signal on the radio.

Also, I lit a (REAL inch and a half) firecracker and it seemed the fuse was burning way to fast and instead of doing the 'from-waist-level-firecracker-toss' I cocked back like I was throwing a baseball. Of course when it was right by my head, it went off. My right ear is deaf in the low regions.

PPS: One time my Mom told us were weren't going to amount to anything except garbage men so we went to the pump house in full view of the kitchen window, one of us stood on top while we whistled and threw the garbage cans (metal) up and down. My Mom asked what we were doing and we said "We're practicing to be garbage men!"

PPPS Speaking of the old garbage pick up, a friend of mine was sitting on his porch and he'd whistle and the truck would take off with the guys hollering "HEY WAIT UP" for the truck to stop.

If you were influenced by the 60's then "groovy", "mod", "peace" were definitely in your vocabulary. And we all stole sayings from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in like "you bet your sweet bippy" and "here comes the judge".

I loved my grandmother and she loved me unconditionally, but I was a constant thorn in her side. She would often say to my mother, "I'm going to kill him and tell the good lord he died". I sure miss her.
