Default OT: shipment information

Just a question about shipment to europe/italy: Is it normal to pay 41$ as shipment fee for little object like cleaning rod or grips? It seems to be very high! Some years ago I bought S&W knives and other items from USA but I spent much less than now!

I have shipped overseas a few times and $41.00 does seem to be a lot. Shipping at the cheapest USPS would mean that it will take longer/ cheaper shipping. Make sure the seller gives you the lowest cost on shipping, there are price gougers out there.

If you mean via USPS, a LOT depends on the type of package, in addition to weight. Usually the cheapest route for small articles is First-Class mail. For a small box of the type you describe, $41 is not out of the question. If a padded mailer is used, it could be a bit less. I send similar care packages to "friends" in Switzerland now and then and the average is usually a bit less than that, but not by much.

Maybe the shipper is making a small administrative fee to you for filing out the customs declaration? It does take a few minutes to complete that form and, if you are in business, time is money.

Check USPS rates here. Insurance is a good idea as lots of packages get lost. #1 is destination then just input package and zip code and you can get a rate. Lots of sellers get a shipping discount so they may ship cheaper then the rate listed.
