I Melt Cause I'm Easy
About 2 hours ago I went out to grab the paper, then wanted a coffee.
I began searching, practically every Dunkin Donuts was closed.
After driving around, I did find one open probably operated by those that do not celebrate the same holiday as I.
Went up to the counter and a very young petite black girl with a Christmas stocking hat on took my order.
I was getting ready to say Merry Christmas to her, as she handed me my coffee, with a big smile said to me "Merry Christmas" I returned the greeting.
Began to walk out, stopped, reached into my pocket, pulled out a $10.00 bill, crumbled it up into a ball.
Said to her reaching over the top of the counter, put your hand out, she did I placed the ten into it and once again said Merry Christmas, then I disappeared.
She just made my day.
As I type this, I honestly must say I am still smiling.
Sometimes it is just a little thing and that young lady gave it to me today.

Sometimes easy is good.
This was one of those times.
Good on ya!!
Was served by the sweetest and friendliest little gal at Pizza Hut last night...
On a night when she was probably wishing she was home, she lit up the evening for Itchy and me.
In spite of all the strife these days, there was just something in the air last night and again today. Kinda peaceful like..
Ya 'spose it might be Christmas?

Nice thing you did there, especially since it gave you at least as much pleasure as it did the kid. At tip of the hat to you, labworm.

That's a nice thing for you to do, I hope more of the same is going on elsewhere in spirit of the season. It's good to see people helping others out when they can.

I'm thinking more than two. It made me happy just reading it.
Nice gesture Lab. She'll remember that forever.
Merry Christmas.

Lab, if that young lady was working Christmas day at DD that $10 probably looked like a hundred to her. Good for you, you did good!

Good on ya, Mate. It only cost you a Sawbuck, and made the day for you both.
I remember a Christmas Eve a few years ago. It was pretty cold, prpbably about zero degrees. I had a full night of surveillance. When I was done I was heading home about midnight. Stopped at a light and noticed a Woman to my right at the intersection. Wasn't really dressed for the weather. She waved at me and I rolled down the window. She said she was really cold, and could I give her a ride across town? I said sure. She got in and gave me a sad story about her unfortunate life. I'm listening thinking, it's Christmas Eve, I sense God put me there for a reason. Pulled up to her apartment, I looked at her, and said "I want to give you something". Reached into my wallet and all I had was a single $20 bill. Put it in her hand and she burst into tears and gave me a big hug.
I gotta believe that made her whole Christmas.
Bet she thought I was an Angel.

Labworm,
I had to re-read your original post, to look for the for the road you were driving around on...Was it on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho? It sure does seem like this is a Dec 25, 2014 parable of another place and another time, and you were the person in the story at that time.

Funny thing is,
I've been craving Doughnuts lately and almost got some this AM but the line was long and I had to be over to a friends place.
He sold me a bunch of ammo.
Birthday Gun,
Christmas Ammo,
Next stop, Grips.

I had this exact thing happen to me! You left out the part about the takedown, cuffs, camera, and disbelieving judge.

I never thought it would be me. But it was getting close to Christmas and instead of feeling like I 'sacrificed' I just felt complete joy and that was the way it was meant to be.

I cashed in our winning scratcher cards that we've been saving and collected $200. Not much but it paid for a nice New Years dinner. On the way home we stopped at the grocery store so spousal carbon unit could buy Christmas decorations at 70% off. While line the woman in front of us in one of those electric shopping scooters with an oxygen bottle was trying to get cash back after paying for her groceries but it kept getting rejected, even for as little as $5. I slipped her $20. After all, I was playing with house money.
