Gunsmoke Season 1 Episode 1 Full Episode
When John Wayne was asked to star in Gunsmoke he said thanks, but no thanks, but recommended James Arness. The rest is history. The one movie I remember that Wayne and Arness were into together was the FBI movie, Big Jim McLain, staged in Hawaii. Does anyone know of any other movies they worked together in?

Also try the fine Western--Hondo. Arness was in it with Duke. Duke's character--Hondo--detested the Arness character. In all, I think they made four movies together.
I remember an exchange between them when at the lady--Lowe's ranch. Hondo was talking to Buffalo--an Army scout--and noticed the Arness character messing with his Winchester rifle and Hondo told him to keep his hands off it. Arness said something like:"In all these years that ive known you, youve had nothing to good to say to me." Hondo said somehting like: "That's because I dont like you." Or something similar. Also,I THINK another with the two of them in it--was Island In the Sky. Of all their movies together--Hondo is my favorite.

In the gunfight intro--the one he is up against is Leo Gordon. Also,season one of Gunsmoke is still sold at WM for a sawbuck,.

The trailer skips on me but--ive got the DvD and will probably watch it tonight. I also have the three-D version too--but on VHS.

Great stills. The first one was when he told "Arness" that he didnt like him.
Also,Dukes Hondo outfit was worn by his son--Patrick Wayne-in: The Comancheros. At least the Hat,scarf and jacket was--I cant recall if he also wore the same pants?? The Hondo hat also still exists--but is in bad bad shape. Michael Waynes widow owns it and its in a safe at Batjak.
