Accused killer in the news has an arsenal of weapons.
First I'll apologize for not knowing all the details of the case.
The morning news stated that they searched the alleged killers house and found an "arsenal" of weapons and ammunition. Another case of news sources over stating information. The story went on to say that over a dozen guns were found as well as ammunition. So, I guess 12 guns or more would be considered an "arsenal".
I wonder how many forum members are guilty of having such an "arsenal".

My wife once saw an article like this in the Local News. I said that, " I guess I would qualify for the National News, instead of the Local News." Her dry reply was," Nope, International News."

By some reporters statements a arsenal is basically anything more than one gun and a handful of ammo!

The news reporters would be even more shocked as to how many guns are in the bottom of American lakes due to "boating accidents".

I was able to keep a 10 year old supplied with .22's throughout the shortage.
Arsenal? Meh.

HB ... I learned the other day that you NYSers can't even own Wrist Rocket slingshots. What makes a Wrist Rocket a "ban-worhty weapon"?
As far as arsenals go, the anti-gun media defines the word as it sees fit, and often deems anything more than a couple rifles and a few boxes of ammo as "arsenals".
I used to have an Arsenal ... an Arsenal 7.62x39 rifle. Lost it in an untimely boating accident when my canoe flipped in the mighty Susquehanna.

Of course the news got the terminology wrong away. The word they should use is 'armory'. An 'arsenal' is where weapons are manufactured.
So no, I don't have an arsenal.

The gun I have....
The guns I have won't raise too many eyebrows but having 1000 or so rounds of ammo and reloading supplies definitely puts me in the 'gun nut' category. Of course if I had one gun and a box of ammo I would be a 'gun nut' in some people's mindss.

Army Corps of Engineers had to build a lake near me,they just had to do it!
It caused me to get into boating! and of course I had a boating accident!
I'm afraid to say that everything went down with the boat!
So I kinda remember, just kinda remember what an arsenal looks like! (I want to emphasize that)
That's why pictures are always important and I have none!
Oh I forgot to mention, Always be cautious when the Army Corp comes to town bearing dams!

I should probably spend my money on boating lessons.....
But I feel the need to buy more guns. I sure hope that I don't have another boating accident come summer.
As much as I hate to admit it, as much as I despise it at times. Violence is a necessary evil.

There was a story about a killing in N.C. They described the shooters arsenal as a handgun, a rifle, and a shotgun?? Apparently the reporter was not from the south.
Personally guns scare me.

Actually, that's not true. Reports being discussed don't wear pants, they wear panties. If anyone wants to discuss them, the correct term is panty-waist.

Every one of my acquaintances has an armory but here in Texas that doesn't even qualify you as a gun nut or maybe not even of sound mind!

According to Webster's Progressive American Dictionary the definition of arsenal is: "A collection at least two firearms and 25 rounds of associated ammunition stored by a country, person, or group. If the firearm(s) is of military configuration, appear to be of military configuration, and has the capability to accept a detachable magazines, and has one of the following listed features it only requires one firearm to be considered an arsenal: flash suppressor, bayonet lug, folding or collapsible shoulder stock, telescopic sight, or ability to accept a cloth or leather sling.

Depending on who you ask, my old Rem788 could "appear to be of military configuration", so I guess it's an arsenal all by itself. Good thing I got rid of it. I guess that would apply to most any bolt action hunting rifle (with detachable mag), since they were derived from military designs.

2 guns? 25 rounds? by a group or country? Cloth sling?
I didn't wanna be my own country but Websters forced me.
Lets see do I want to be prez or dicktater. Better be the latter or my wife will pencil herself in and it'd be a draw.
How do I divide one gun with detachable magazine and telescopic sight between 25 border guards. Oh, I'll do a reverse Barney Fife. I'll give everyone one bullet and they can carry the gun once every 25 days except during deer season when I'll have it.
I guess I'd better get me one of those Webster's to see how to set up foreign embassy's, food stamps, jails for the homeless and such. Faulkner where did you find that there Websters? Or are you just funnen us?

Seems to me that you boys have just woke out of a sound sleep and realised that the newspaper folks are clueless about everything but dead-lines.
Don't get your panties in a wad---they ain't goin away.
I need another cup of coffee and a cig----I'll be right back. Save my seat please.
Blessings

As much as I hate to admit it, as much as I despise it at times. Violence is a necessary evil.

Gotta quote from Webster's Conservative American Dictionary?
I'm thinking it might, just maybe, be a little different...

I don't know nothin' about no arsenals. The last estimate I saw was that there are about 350,000,000 firearms in the US for about 310,000,000 people. I may have more than my share. Maybe.
Reminds me a little of the time I had a monetary surplus and went to WalMart. I left with about 4000 rounds of ammunition. In some places, that would be likened to preparations for war. In Oklahoma, it's a pretty good day.
