Ivory stored away from the sun turns yellow faster.

This picture from the National Archives shows the all-time best way to store ivory grips:

(P.S., The soldier receiving the Silver Star in October 1944 is Private Ernest A. Jenkins, of New York City. Private Jenkins was awarded the Silver Star for his conspicuous gallantry in the liberation of Chateaudun, France. October 13, 1944.)

You've got to handle the gun regularly to get the oils off your hand on the ivory. You want it there so the grips turn the nice yellow we all seek. I'm not advocating soaking them in tea or old leaves, just natural oils and darkness. Its the best way to age them. Keep the guns in reasonable humidity or occasionally use baby oil on them.

Do not leave them in contact with any dye impregnated cloth, leather etc. Ivory is porous and can absorb the dye color. Past experience taught be this lesson.
