Default The Tooth Fairy, going rate?

When I was a kid I think I got 25 cents for each tooth. That was back when teeth were mailed to the government for them to test to see how much radiation we were getting from nuclear tests and the dairy supply.

I recently saw an article that said the average now was something like $4.83! My how times have changed.

There is probably more recyclable metal in our teeth now than there was back then.

I always tell kids it's $10.00 a tooth right in front of their parents, the kids grin and the parents cringe .

Depends on when you were born. In 1935 a quarter was worth $4.26 today

My grandkids get a buck if there is not a cavity and they are sparkling clean. Of course my daughter only has her debit card available when they lose teeth so it is up to Pops to provide a dollar coin to put under the pillow.

I like the idea of the $1 coin. I guess Grandma is cheap tho.
But I never got anything for mine, waaaah!
Will be having Granddaughters several times soon so I guess
Grandma should be prepared. Both are tooth losing age.

Yup, a coin. My kids in the 80's and 90's got a nice Kennedy half dollar. So it seemed like something more special than 50 cents. If I had any of that age range now I would go out and find some of those current $1 coins.

When I was a kid I got $.25. But that was in the early 60's. My daughter who is 31, her mama gave $1.00. No telling what my grand daughter will get. What her mama & daddy gives her plus what grandma gives her!

Maybe I should & find some new $2.00 bills for her.

When a person dies and they have some gold in their teeth, do you think it goes to the grave with them? Just asking.

I used to get a quarter per tooth. The hard part was getting them back outta the other guy's knuckles.

Packaging and mailing a tooth to USPS requirements today would cost at least $3.00, perhaps more.

Back in the 50's I got a dime, but that dime was 90% silver and would buy more than a buck will buy today. And I had to learn to pull my own teeth when they needed to come out; nobody was going to take me to a dentist for such common stuff.

I can't imagine my parents spending the money to mail my baby teeth to any government lab for testing for anything.

IIRC there were prepaid postage envelopes. Back when Uncle used little kids as free test subjects. Ah, the good old days!

Or...
We got beatings and were grateful for attention of any kind, no matter how painful.

I guess I was a cheapskate, my kids got a dime. We were on leave one time visiting my ex's sister's family. My Daughter lost a tooth and found her dime under her pillow when she got up........her two cousins felt so sorry for her they went up to their room and got $5.00 and gave it to her. The rate for teeth went up after that.

I got a dime in the 1950's, my son got a dollar in the 1980's, so....... inflation price would put it around $5 today (?)
